2025 Season | Week 2 | Gameday Chatter Thread | Giants vs. Cowboys | 9/14/2025

The special teams were also quietly terrible outside of Aubrey's singular excellence.
I've thought that Bones to Sorenson would probably be the biggest drop-off in coordinator quality. Weren't his STs terrible in Jax? And we know he was a bad DC. Maybe he's just not a good coach.

Might be the one BS buddy hire that bites us.

I think this was the thread where somebody was wondering what we could get for Brandon Aubrey. Anyways watching on social media from Yahoo Sports they were talking about this and the answer that was given was a 1st round + more easily. Take it for what its worth. It was 3 guys and I only recognized 1 of them. Cant remember his name but he has some huge ears for those that might know who it is.

Don't remember his name but that's the first guy I thought of.

I asked that. And using the same philosophy that Parsons was an elite player but we weren’t going to win a championship with him, you could make an argument to trade him. If we could get a 1+ for him, I think you’d have to consider it. Especially if it secures our ability to get the qb we want in the next couple of years.

I'd be very tempted if someone offered a first for Aubrey. But I'm still not sure I would do it.

It's almost like a moneyball thing where in a salary cap league his impact outpaces what his salary will be (even at the top salary at his position). It's just extremely valuable.

I'm rewatching the game and Steele is somehow worse than I remembered.

Guyton has his issues and got beat his fair share but Steele is just on another level. He gave up about 4 quick pressures/sacks just on the last 3-4 drives alone, including on the first play of the second possession in OT when we stated on the 38 and probably only needed about 15 yards for an Aubrey attempt.

Instead he gave up a sack on 1st and 10 to some scrub named Elijah Garcia to set us back to 2nd and 18ish.

They 100% should be considering benching him.

This is what I'm saying. I don't care how highly we drafted Guyton or how much we're paying Steele-- they are crazy inconsistent. As a result our OL is not that good overall and definitely not good on the edges.

I don't think we should be looking at Guyton as a finished product though. We did all presume he'd be a bit of a project. Hopefully he gets there but he'll need to play to do it.

Now in year 3 if he's still far from where we need him to be we'll have to take a hard look at it. Or for that matter if he's a disaster this year. But so far I don't think he's a disaster.

Yea he's definitely better than last season, I still think he's an average LT at absolute best right now, but he has plenty of room to grow.

Steele on the other hand is already worse, has absolutely no room for growth, and if anything will probably only get worse as the years go on.

I agree completely. Wish he was a faster learner!

And Jerry is 200% committed to Steele. He won't entertain drafting his replacement like he needs to.

I noticed that a few times with Booker, he really locked Carter up when he was rushing from the interior.

And that was one of the plays that made me post what I posted last night about Steele. As you can tell from the video the DE was extended way out since he takes like 2 seconds to even make it into the frame, that's because he was widened by the formation, and somehow this dumbass Steele still let him blow right by him despite having a huge head start on getting a bead on the guy.

The dude is completely fucking cooked.

Well we do have extra 1sts. Can have another first round pick on the Oline..

OT and edge (ironically) look like two of the strongest positions in the first next year, RT specifically with Fano and Mauigoa.

I wouldn't be shocked at all if those were the two positions we picked.

I could actually see that (sigh).

In all seriousness I'm hoping we trade one 1st round pick down for extra picks and snag our OL in the second.

Just have to hope Guyton comes through and isn't a mental midget.

I'm confident Thomas would be a very good RT.

That would be the biggest win-- Thomas starting by Thanksgiving

Of course, I'd settle for more minutes

That alone would be a huge concession for Jerry
