Hard to compare players who played different positions. For instance, Gore was subjected to much more punishment than Monk. Also, Monk only led the league in receptions in 1984. Not sure where you got those other years.

Gore's longevity and sustainability is elite. And to some extent longevity is a factor. I mean no one is knocking on the door for Demarco Murray who had essentially one insanely good season. So everyone considers longevity and sustainability to some extent. You need some of it to really get in the HOF. But if that's the majority of your argument from my perspective that's not enough.

Either way, you brought Monk into it, not me. My point is that Monk has other arguments in his favor. I have yet to see another compelling argument for Gore other than his career yards.
 
His first course of business should be finding a GM into firing Capri Pants and dumping Tua.
 
It's not that I think he's going to be a great GM, because we honestly don't know, but if he was going to start down that path, it should have been with us.

And right now, I'd take an elephant over any of the Jones' to be our GM.
