Dak was 2nd in MVP voting two years ago, I think he'll be fine unless he's irreparably damaged physically.

Still doesn't deserve the contract but it's insane that people pretend like this guy barely deserves to be starting games.

I'm not saying he sucks. I don't think he's good enough to make a deep run, but I don't think he's terrible.

All I was saying was that Bucs team was smoke and mirrors based on winning a terrible division, that's all.

I agree and Dak has always been awesome with a run game. I get that a good run game helps literally every NFL QB, so that doesn't really tell the whole story. But Dak has always been stellar when he only has to throw in that 30 times a game range. He doesn't need to be Hurts throwing for 130 yards. But I think he works better off a running game then other QBs. And so if we can find some semblance of balance I think the offense will be great.

Of course the defense has to do its part. Otherwise playing bully ball on offense isn't easy. You fall behind and you're going to pass the ball more, its faster.

I think he's also excellent off play-action, more so than most QB's, and that's most effective with a running game.

And if you go back and look at Hurts last season the guy was pretty putrid in the passing game. 18 passing TD's in the regular season and less than 200 yards passing per game in the playoffs, put him in Dallas and this guy would've been ran out of town on a rail before you knew it.

And they annihilated the best teams in the league, too. Friggin smashed the Cowboys, 49ers, Rams, Washington, Giants— all Superbowl and playoff contenders.

Being a ‘top ten’ defense statistically doesn’t move me, because stats can hide so much. Look at our 2003 team and how far above their weight they punched the whole regular season, only to get completely rocked in the playoffs.

I think Dallas has the makings of a balanced team offensively and enough building blocks on defense that we could field a top defense that hangs tough vs the best competition if we could ever straighten our DT situation out.

But we haven’t, and so I expect more weakness vs the run to where good offenses will continue to make back breaking big plays against us because we move our safeties up or our schemes to cover our weak front otherwise fail. It’s so frustrating that we can never see or fix the problem.

It’s no secret their seven year run they’ve got with bookended Super Bowl wins has been based on one of the very best OLs ever and major investment on their DL. With the foundation secured, their added talent gets magnified. When they added Barkley it became rallying hard to stop them with even average QB play— which they had

Agreed, which is why I find it odd that they barely did anything to replace Williams and Sweat, who were two of their top 3-4 DL last year.

I don't think their OL and Barkley coming off last year's workload will be enough with just an average to above average DL. Their DL is basically what won them the SB and it's honestly ridiculous that Sweat or someone else on the DL didn't win MVP.

In hindsight, and given how the rest of the draft played out plus the Pickens trade, the decision at 12 really came down to OL vs. DT.

We added an offensive playmaker in Pickens, which kind of moves you off of taking Warren or obviously a WR at 12, we got a steal with Revel in the 3rd so CB is taken care of, and RB was never a serious consideration with Jeanty gone.

So with all that in mind it really came down to fortifying the OL as they've done so many times in the last 10-15 years, or taking a DT like Harmon or Grant. They chose to do what they usually do, which is prioritize the OL and hope you can get a run-stuffing DT late.

And I realize the decision came down to Booker vs. Nolen, but my point is that they philosophically believe in spending premium picks on the OL while rolling the dice with big body DT's late, which Nolen isn't.

I really like Booker and think Toia was a steal, but it'll be interesting to see how it works out.

It was a quick example of one team. So basically... BFD. The point was, EVERY top team, EVERY year plays some patsies that inflate their stats and standings. Nobody is infallible. Including the supposed "best ever"

He's definitely a starting level QB. He's a good QB, very good when he was at peak mobility, but that ankle injury took a lot of that away. And who knows how much more this bad hamstring will take.

Every player in the NFL should want this guy's agent for getting him 60 mil per.

I don't know that I'm ready to say his ankle is fucked. But I do think they try to hold him back to prevent injury. Which I also think is a bad idea. As we have seen he still gets hurt. You have to let a guy play the way he has played best his entire career. If you ask a QB to hold back from running I think you create other opportunities for injury.

Dak is better than Hurts, and yet rumor has it that Hurts was somewhat successful last year with a strong running game and two top tier WRs.

Unfortunately Dak doesn't have Barkley but I'm saying I think he could make a deep run with a good supporting cast around him. I think his problems come when he has to do too much.

The Eagles and Chiefs rode damn good defenses to the Superbowl last year. Stafford couldn't win shit with the Lions until he got a real team with the Rams. The truth is Dak is good enough (Assuming his health) but he is going to need the defense to play at a high level and he is going to need a run game to compliment him.

Funny thing about the Eagles is they don't even have what I'd consider a great coach.
 
While I agree with everything people are saying about Dak theoretically being capable of a deep run with the right team around him, and that he's been let down most years in the playoffs by the defense, he individually shit the bed in the 2022 divisional game against the 49ers.

Every other time the defense has been pure shit right out of the gate (2016 Packers, 2018 Rams, 2021 49ers, 2023 Packers) but that 2022 game really sticks out.

Part of it was Pollard going down, part of it was Moore being a dickhead, but that's the one playoff game where I can say that a Stafford-level QB likely should've won it.

I used to think that, and maybe he still can, but the last SF playoff game and the GB playoff game give me serious doubt. Can't blame the defense for the Niners game, and GB didn't have a great defense but he still made several bonehead mistakes.

Plus, I wonder if his physical decline isn't in full swing. He hasn't moved very well since the ankle, and now he tears his hamstring off the bone. He was bad last year, too, before he got hurt. If he goes right back to '23 form, then great, but I'm not too hopeful.

I think we'll be able to tell pretty quickly during the season if he's physically dropped off a cliff, like within the first month or so.
