I mean play action can open up a lot of things besides just deep balls. It helps suck LBers up to make crossing routes easier. It it often used on read option to throw the slant. And frankly with the jump ball ability that McMillian has a 1 vs 1 opportunity against a corner on a deep ball, you're completing that more times than not.

That's not to say Golden wouldn't be awesome with play action. They both would be. I don't agree that deep speed is the only thing that benefits from play action. Lamb does an awesome job taking advantage of play action for example and his deep speed is about the same as McMillan.

I've been kicking this around in my head for the last week or so and I think I agree.

Based on what Schottenheimer said during his intro PC he wants to use much more condensed alignments similar to the Rams or 49ers with the WR's bunched closer to the LOS. Those sorts of alignments tend to rely on WR's to get open quickly off the LOS so they can take advantage of the amount of space opened up by how they're aligned.

Think of how Kupp was used where a lot of his game was based on his COD and short area quickness to kind of get horizontal separation within about 5-10 yards, rather than more traditional WR play where you're just beating a guy at the breakpoint 20 yards downfield on a deep post.

With that said, I think McMillan fits fine and if he doesn't it's more of a problem with the offensive scheme, but I think Golden's quickness and short area route running might make more sense.

Yeah I've thought about it just from the diversity of skills perspective. Lamb is your number 1 WR, he is a big WR. Not McMillan big but he is a receiver who plays big and does all the big receiver stuff. So I kind of look at Golden and go, isn't he the perfect compliment to Lamb? Great route runner, deep speed and just feels like the perfect compliment to Lamb. So part of me does lean towards Golden pairing better with Lamb. But ultimately, I think I just like McMillan slightly more. Even if he is more similar to Lamb.

This is the way the draft has pushed it. We need meaningful snaps from a talented WR to come from this draft, and that almost forces us to pick one in the first.

DT depth gets us to DT in the second (hopefully), though they may go with their best RB or TE option if they choose Edge in the 1st.

In the 3rd, I think it’s clear we should draft our top RB remaining as that talent likely won’t be there in the 5th and we have a desperate need, just like last year when we saw it all crumple without a talented, young option running the football.

I'd be ok drafting DT in the third and fifth. I'd be ok drafting RB in the third and the fifth. Those positions just have soo much talent. You could also take a DT that could play some base DE as well. Rylie Mills for example or Ty Robinson. Mills is coming off an injury but I actually really like him as a player. 6'5" 290 pounds with 7.5 sacks. He played basically everywhere on the D-line for Notre Dame and was really disruptive. Will he be available in the fifth? I have no idea, but I'd happily take him there.

Corner I struggle with. I know it's a need. But mostly because of Diggs. And I have no idea what Diggs rehab looks like and what the Cowboys long term plans are for him. I can solve WR, DT and RB in this draft. I know I can do that. But if you start throwing corner, DE, LBer and other positions into the day one mix because you feel like you just need one, then it becomes a real challenge. Although I kind of throw DT and DE into this thing together. We have to get a DT (We have no one backing up Mazi or challenging him) but the depth at DE in this draft is great too. Maybe instead of a second DT I'm drafting Ahmed Hassanein on day three.

Or maybe I'm going DE earlier and following it up with a Jordan Phillips, Caldwell or CJ West on day 3.

Generally I agree about WR, but if we added a special talent like Jeanty at RB I wouldn't be too concerned about some weird platoon of Tolbert and whoever else as our WR2.

I assume we'd go 2TE heavy since we actually have some solid depth there, but a home run hitter like Jeanty at RB who is also a 3-down back would fix a lot of what has plagued the offense.

But of course Jeanty is a rare prospect and the most straightforward path is simply drafting a much better WR2 while patching together a RB group.

That's my challenge. I'd rather say Judkins and Golden/McMillan than Jeanty and say Besch. And I know I can likely get Golden/McMillan and Judkins. We can't even get Jeanty/Besch more than likely.

But I guess if you think you can get say Higgens/Jeanty I feel pretty good as well. But that takes a lot of breaks to even have a chance at. And I damn sure am not trading up for anyone.

It's interesting but at the same time what I define as a drop and what another person defines as a drop can be two very different things. So it's difficult to put an exact percent on something like that.

I will say I really like Higgens. He is a big guy that I think sometimes gets tagged as slow but he doesn't look slow to me and he didn't run slow either. He actually has some quicks to him for a big guy. He is also a physical receiver. He does the Lamb nose wipe for those who haven't watched him... A little Lamb like to me in general.

Back in the day, Jimmy Johnson could handle the White House.

Guys like Garrett could not handle the likes of Josh Brent and David Irving. I dunno how Schottenheimer’s kid is in that space.

No idea, not sure Schotty and his all "I want to get to know the person" personality would work with those types.
