Golden benefits from a weak WR class overall, but there's a chance he falls to within trade up range, especially if we gain ammo from a trade down

I think he'd be a top 20ish pick in almost any class, and I think he compares favorably to guys who went in the early 20's in the past who would go much higher in a re-draft like Zay Flowers and Jordan Addison.

Sometimes it just comes down to the class and the order, like I think Flowers and Addison were at least equal if not better prospects as Chris Olave and Jahan Dotson, but Olave and Dotson went in the 10-15 range and Flowers and Addison went in the early 20's.

Just because Golden might have gone 22 or something last year doesn't mean he isn't worth taking at 12 this year.

R1: Kenneth Grant
R2: Tyleik Williams
R3: Deone Walker
R5: CJ West
R7: Yahya Black

Eh. Not really. Would certainly help the front, but we'd still have holes in the back end. There's more to playing defense than just fat guys.

We have everything else except the middle. That insane draft would set us straight for most of a decade, and more than likely get us some trade material. The slight weakness in the back seven we’d field in September would be more than made up for by a front seven teams actually had to respect and fear, one they couldn’t just run on when they felt like it which has been the case for the most part since Jimmy left. One that actually freed linebackers and safeties to run.

Kenneth Grant, unlike Mazi Smith, has a QB homing instinct and an aggressiveness the other could only dream of.

It only works when the middle is right. We proved for three decades that pass rush without an interior DL generates empty stats with no chance at stopping the league’s best teams.

Damn. Fix the defense for a decade AND get trade material? You make it sound so easy. You'd think somebody in the NFL would have stumbled upon this winning formula before.

It’s not easy, we’re talking bout capping a decade of drafting and topping off a team with Bland, Overshown, Parsons, Williams, Loofa, Osa, hopefully Diggs, and strong safety depth.

The clear gaping hole is up front in the middle where we lack starting talent and have very poor depth. The first thing a defense has to do is stop the run, and we tend to fail at it unless we have a two TD lead. We are built backwards defensively, it’s almost like we drafted a bunch of skill players on offense but forgot the OL that enables their success.

No one position impacts the other front seven positions on defense more than 1T, and if your 3T is only a penetrator and can’t stop the run this is twice as big a need.

A guy like Grant could play both DT positions, doesn’t get moved, and can also rush the passer. You wonder how a team like Pittsburgh can win year after year despite being so terrible on offense without a QB— this is why. They get it, and always have a stout front that stuffs the run, makes opponents more 1-dimensional, and blocks for the dynamic LB’s and Safeties

Harmon is the guy who resembles Heyward if you want to sort of mimic Pittsburgh.

Harmon is also an awesome playmaker and I’d be ecstatic if we drafted him. He does look a little out of shape in some of his earlier game footage, but he’s too consistent even vs top competition for this to actually have been a problem

They could draft Harmon or Grant easy if they stand pat and find the guts to do so.

The way the draft is set up, the only place to draft an impactful WR seems to be in the 1st round, and even these guys are all slight reaches. DT looks solid through rounds 2-3, and RB through round 5 and maybe even later.

What happens when you are left drafting for need

I think they trade down a bit and take one of those two guys. Yes, that's what I hope happens, but I think they'll do it unless someone like Graham falls.
