Outside of Dowdle and Lewis if their price tags are low, let everyone from that list walk.

Lewis, Kendricks, Lawson, Dowdle, and Gholston.
 
Even before a good number of the guys that I listed were extended by current teams I thought this was a relatively weak FA class. When Milton Williams is one of the top 5 or so guys available it's just not a very strong class.

With that said, you'd still hope to see them make a few logical, targeted moves (i.e. someone like EJ Speed), but I have absolutely no faith that they'll actually make that happen.

They'll spend the first 24-48 hours dicking around with our internal guys, they'll probably bring back Lewis, Anger/Sieg, and maybe one of Golston/Lawson/Dowdle.

My O/U on the first external FA signing is Thursday at 6 EST.
 
These dummies couldn't even keep Lewis around, thank god we can now take a CB with one of our first two picks.
 
Since piece of shit Twitter is down I can't post a link, but "highest paid nickel CB" must mean at least 10.5/year, since Taron Johnson is right around 10/year.

Not sure what the specifics were, but he’s supposedly the highest paid nickel in the league now. Doubt anyone here would have wanted to pay him like that.

Yea if he got 11+/year I can't blame them, but as always, they have to actually go out and spend the money effectively elsewhere now.

I was thinking we could bring him back for about 2/15, so you can't be mad at him getting as much as he did.

NFL Media reports that they have agreed to terms with cornerback Jourdan Lewis. The full terms of the deal have not been reported, but Lewis is now reportedly set to become the highest-paid nickel corner in the league.

Lewis, who is No. 79 on PFT’s list of the top free agents, was a 2017 third-round pick by the Cowboys and he’s spent his entire career in Dallas.

Lewis has played 115 regular season games over his career and has 386 tackles, 10 interceptions, 9.5 sacks, 44 passes defensed, five forced fumbles, and nine fumble recoveries in those appearances.
 
Love Lewis, but highest paid nickel at 30 years old? Now I would've been happy if we extended Lewis last year. And highest paid nickel in 2025 is a misnomer. Dude is on the field all game in the slot.

Can they be proactive for once. Be smart to re-up Tyler Smith and Bland now, but doubt it.

Good player, I liked him more the last few years than the first ones, but I wouldn't pay him that much, either.

Supposedly his biggest loss will be in the locker room, where everyone admires his toughness. But you can't overpay intangibles like that.
 
Lewis just decided to go lose where he can make the most money instead of in Dallas. Don’t blame him.

Taron Johnson is slightly higher at $10.25ish, but that's still higher than I would've went.

Of course I would've done that with other plans in mind to fill other holes with that money, I'm sure our dumbasses are just sitting around patting themselves on the back for not overpaying.

Honestly Carson should be fine in that role but besides liking him in the draft I have nothing to back that up. Injuries and rookie struggles don't give me much to make that argument.

But we need to sign a vet corner for insurance.
