2024 Season | Week 2 | Gameday Chatter Thread | Saints @ Cowboys | 9/15/2024

By the way, crazy how much more attainable GW FG drives are now.

Falcons gave Eagles 00:34 with one-point lead. 10 years ago, that’s game set match.

But now, touchbacks at the 30-yard line and kickers with 60-yard range, a team only needs to gain 35 yards.

With one timeout, two long completions and a spike is quite doable. And the Eagles had two TO.

It's exactly what the league wants.

And it probably is a good thing.

Eagles radio gonna have a field day with that 3rd down incompletion. F U Sirianni

To be fair, that should have put the game away.

He just flat out drops it.

However, if you're the Eagles and you do decide to pass it there, then you have to be willing to go for it on fourth down too or else it defeats the entire purpose of trying to ice the game there.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to pass it on 3rd down because you don't like the idea of not converting with the run and having to settle for the FG and giving the Falcons back the ball with roughly 1:10 to play, but then you're ok with settling for the exact same scenario but with MORE time on the clock?

So yeah, when they decided to pass on 3rd they needed to commit to going for it on 4th too.

They weren't drafting a RB because of missing their 4th. That was the spot.

And we all know they weren't going to otherwise spend even that miniscule amount.

Meanwhile Dowdle and Deuce get a pass from everybody despite not being any better.

They don't get a pass from me.

They all suck.

Zeke is just the slowest of a bad group.

That's fair. And I'm on record that I wouldn't have resigned Zeke and he and the group as a whole isn't good enough.

I just see everyone complaining about Zeke and only Zeke, but he is what he is. I don't even think he's the worst of the group (I think Deuce is, and that's including Luepke).

Our 3rd rounder #87, there was clamor for Marshawn Lloyd, who Green Bay snatched up with glee at #88

Again, I think he draws the ire of the fan base because of all of our shitty RBs, he's the one they chose to go out and sign..... That and his prior history here.

For ye of still have faith fans, Saints loss isn’t completely disastrous as Eagles, Lions and 49ers all dropped conference games.

I am both confused and happy.

I went to bed immediately after the turnover on downs.

The first thing I see this morning is an Ernie tweet calling the Eagles ASS. Then I was like, they choked?

:towel

The Mannings and Belichik was a good listen.

Was great to hear Peyton wonder why the Eagles were calling long-developing routes on 3rd & 4.

:lol

I saw the DL getting blown off the ball yesterday, zero pressure on the QB, and lapses in coverage on the backend.
That’s been going on for years for the most part.
Truth is we’ve tried to draft a stud up front for years now and it just hasn’t happened

We suck at drafting DT’s, despite the decent quality of Odighizuwa. Kneeland may develop in time, but he’s a DE.

When your two interior guys consistently get blown off the line and your LDE weighs 240 pounds a balanced offense can tear you up. A Shanahan-tree offense called well (and on turf as well) can have it’s way with you.
