Parsons tied a career high with 5 QB hits, which he only did 3-4 other times and in some of his most dominant games (Minnesota and Bengals in 2022, Raiders in 2021).

Pretty, pretty, pretty good for a first game under Zimmer.
 
Besides the scheme issues and undersized players, I can't help thinking about how the players said if they weren't getting something, Quinn would just say screw it and scrap it, while Zimmer makes them do it over and over until they get it right.

I assume (hope?) it was just a matter of rotating him in to get him some live snaps in a contingency scenario because we were up so much, kind of like how they gave Mukuamu some outside CB snaps.

There's nothing overly special about this, pretty basic double A look and the LB's drop out into a zone with some relatively basic twists/stunts up front. This is just one of the dumbass hype men trying hard to look like he knows ball by posting an all-22 clip.

It was a nice play by Lewis though.

There's a reason I was excited when we signed him. He wasn't on the same level as guys like Kuechly and Wagner but just a tier below that HOF/generational level, and he still has something left in the tank.

His familiarity with Zimmer's scheme made it a no-brainer and I think he's going to put up one of the best seasons we've seen out of a traditional LB in a long time.
 
Is Bell a safety now? I don't recall seeing him on the field yesterday.

The one play that really drove this home for me was 3rd and 4 around midfield in the 3rd when we were up 27-10. How often over the last few years have we complained about being in 2nd and 7 or 3rd and 5, normally passing downs, and offenses would run a simple draw and pop it for 5-7 because our pass rush was recklessly flying upfield?

That 3rd and 4 was the exact same situation where we'd have given up a soft 5 under Quinn, but yesterday it went for a loss of 2, put them in 4th and 6 and led to a stop.

The pass rush didn't look quite as dynamic as it did under Quinn but I think the floor for the defense is much higher. There will surely be a few tough games and growing pains but I think Zimmer's defense is just structurally better than Quinn's and I'm glad to see the players taking to it.

I think a solid FA pickup at DE was needed to help us deep into the season. Parsons has shown he simply loses steam at the end of every year.
