As I detailed above, Rush loses this game if we had the defense from most of the first half of the year.

Last night, we scored two TDs and kicked four (long) FGs. We're doing just enough on offense only because the defense is finally pulling it's own weight.

Which is pretty impressive when you consider who is out there on defense. Rookie LBer and journeyman Vigil at LBer. Golston is out there making plays. Nobody corners are out there playing opposite Bland.

The injuries have really piled up on defense and yet it feels like Zimmer's system is finally finding a groove regardless of who is on the field.
 
Just heard some dude on NFL radio make a crazy point about Dallas' defense. The best defensive players on this team are Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, Daron Bland, Trevon Diggs, Osa Odighizuwa, and DeMarvion Overshown. And they have never played a single defensive snap with all of them on the field together.

And by the way, none of them were top ten picks.
 
Here's a question, have we seen enough for you to say you prefer DQ over Zimmer or vice-versa?

I think I go with Zimmer pretty easily. It's clear from earlier in the year that DQ's defense was so undisciplined against the run, and it took half the season for the guys to change their mindset. But once they did, we're stopping the run pretty well even with a very spare D-line (save Osa).

Only think I miss are the turnovers. Other than that I feel that Zimmers defense is more sustainable and prefer that.

Zimmer's defense doesn't have as a high a ceiling, but that ceiling was usually only reached against relatively crappy teams.

Zimmer's focus on run defense makes it more sustainable and that's why I prefer his style.

I think if a team is patient they can still nickel and dime their way down the field with the short passing game. And I think it's too easy to get separation on routes when DBs play that far off. It's that bend don't break philosophy that I still just don't like.

I agree 100% and that was my gripe with his defenses 20 years ago and I can't believe he's still doing the exact same shit.

I like his blitzes and I think he has the front 7 playing far more disciplined. I just wish he would do something different in the secondary. It's like he is almost there with a scheme I really like but than falls short in a way that I think makes us vulnerable to really good schemes and QBs.
