Sometimes we have to endure things we don't like. Status quo isn't doing anything so we have to revert to extreme measures. Hang on. We are in for a bumpy ride.

One of the underrated reasons that I think they might bring back McCarthy is a combination of pure laziness and being cheap.

Think about it, if we hire a complete outsider at HC like Aaron Glenn, Vrabel, or whoever, they usually want to bring in some of their own guys to start reshaping the roster. That kind of nullifies some of the previous decisions/player development (i.e. if Glenn is hired as HC and doesn't like Liufau that's a 3rd rounder and a year of development down the drain) and we all know how steadfast these morons stick to their draft evaluations years down the line.

A new HC would also likely require some FA spending, which would force the FO to re-think the cap structure that they've probably laid out a year or two in advance.

The long and short of it is that this organization is extremely insular when it comes to making personnel decisions (barely any outside FA's, basically only pay your own draft picks) so it'd make sense that they'd be extremely insular as far as the coaching staff so that they can maintain that insular stance towards personnel.

I thought Belichick was a good possibility because he's such a huge name and I thought Jerry might be getting desperate in his old age, but now that he's off the table I'd be shocked if our HC next year was anybody except McCarthy or Moore, with Zimmer back as DC.
 
McCarthy did put his house up for sale.

If another team shows interest in him, I wonder if he'll choose to leave on his own even if the Cowboys begin talking extension?

This might be the extremely rare time where they announce it as a "mutual parting" and it's actually not a lie.

I'm sure we did. This is the case where that actually makes sense. Free player, available for practice squad, you liked what you saw last time he actually played real games.

So what exactly is the problem? I mean how else exactly are you supposed to evaluate a guy like this?

No, that's the point of the Cowboys signing him to the practice squad... I have no idea why that happened on other teams.

I understand the point of a practice squad but lets try someone else. He was on 3 other teams that released him.
