That blink is what you say today, years after the fact.
At the time, I bet it didn’t feel like a blink.
Also, consider that Romo was an UDFA and the drafting hubris is even worse.

You're talking about feel, I'm talking about reality.

Since Staubach took over in 71(?), we've had a franchise QB in place pretty continuously with the exception of about 5 years in the late 80s and about 5 years in the early 2000s.

That's a pretty remarkable run.

Yes we've gotten lucky at times, but nevertheless it's afforded us the luxury of not having to take a QB in the 1st round very often.

The whole point of this is that the Saints have not had that same luck over the decades and still haven't taken a 1st round QB, which is astonishing to me.

There's a 0% chance they don't give him an extension before week 1, all of this is just pure idiocy in the lead up and the Jones morons making themselves feel smart by being "tough negotiators". In reality all they're doing is dicking around and increasing the likelihood that Lamb misses a handful of games during the season.

They actually are trying to make it sound like a good thing. "He wouldn't be playing anyway, this just protects him, yuck yuck yuck"

Guess that's why he and Rogers were playing next to each other vs. the Raiders.

I bet he still plays lots of NT though.

I mean I'm ok with that too. I'd play him at either DT spot honestly. Based on us cutting a NT when we signed him, I assumed he was a NT. Otherwise we only have Mazi and the rookie to play NT right now.

I think he'll play both, he has some juice as a pass rusher so I don't mind pairing him with Mazi to get maximum beef on the field.

Yeah nothing wrong with him being our backup 3T, but in no way is he starting there over Osa.
