He's a decent RB that should be coming off the bench to give your starter a rest. He is perfectly capable of giving you 4 ypc in that role. His problem is that he can't even stay healthy doing that.

So, we have an OK RB that should be RB2 starting, a washed up has-been that should be out of the league at RB2, a tiny little specialty type player that they don't know what the fuck to do with, and some UDFA no one has ever heard of. And maybe some other guy.

Just fucking pitiful for a team that supposedly thinks it is "around the rim" of a championship.

Don't you dare sleep on Rolls Royce and Malik Davis.

You rang?

Anyway...

- Props to the time spent, but doesn’t uncover anything new. Prescott isn’t HOFer Mahomes, Rodgers, Peyton, Brees. No shit. Prescott performs worse vs better defenses. Find me a non-HOFer that doesn’t.

- At this point, most interesting thing you can research is why we haven’t had that one year. Even goes back to Romo. Lots of good/lesser QBs have had that one year for at least a CC game — Carson Palmer, Goff (twice), Nick Foles (allegedly, Geng), Keenum, Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, Eli Manning, Rex Grossman, Hasselbeck, Stafford, Garoppolo, Hurts. That’s 13 of the last 19 NFCCs, meaning 35% of NFCC QBs had that one year. How is it that Romo and Prescott are seemingly the only two Pro Bowlers that haven’t and both are Cowboys?

- Thinking out loud, probably the most relevant study for Prescott is showing QB %-to-cap with NFCC appearances or performance. Is Prescott the only one?

Focusing on the 'WTF not even one year it comes together'...

Since the 2006 season:
A. 23 QBs have multiple Pro Bowls (excluding replacement invites). Only six QBs haven't reached the CC - Romo, Prescott, Kirk Cousins, Tagovailoa, Deshaun Watson, Kyler Murray.
B. Of 13 QBs with 3+ Pro Bowl non-replacement invites, only Prescott and Romo haven't reached CC.
C. 19 QBs with only one Pro Bowl non-replacement invite, essentially half have reached a CC/SB. Nine QBs.

-----
List of QBs from Above
A. Josh Allen, Kirk Cousins, Tagovailoa, Matt Stafford, Cam Newton, Eli Manning, Deshaun Watson, Carson Palmer, Brock Purdy, Kyler Murray plus B (below)
B. Brady, Rodgers, Peyton, Brees, Rivers, Mahomes, Roethlisberger, Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson, Prescott, Matt Ryan, Romo, Favre
C. Joe Burrow (SB), Ryan Tannehill (CC), Kurt Warner (SB), Jay Cutler (CC), Jalen Hurts (SB), Andrew Luck (CC), Matt Hasselbeck (SB), Michael Vick (CC), Goff (SB), Carson Wentz, Matt Schaub, Derek Anderson, Vince Young, Jeff Garcia, RG III, Derek Carr, Justin Herbert, Marc Bulger, Geno Smith

Didn't someone post a tweet from The Ernster saying his sources told him Jerry called the NFL to put them to against the 49ers in week 1?
I did not, but thanks to Elon’s blue check of authenticity, I saw it. Yeah.

I mean Parcells made the Playoffs running Hambrick at 3.5 ypc.

That's the thing.

This is unpopular but I think a running game can work even at 3.5 YPC if the coaches can stay dedicated to it and it is consistent.

When it's inconsistent though is where problems come in - like 1 run of 10 yards but the next 5 carries get 2 yards. That's a big problem.

I mean to some extent that's true. If there is zero variation and you run for 3.5 yards every carry. You could technically run the ball every play and score on every drive. It's the extreme example but yeah, consistency is pretty important. Of course, you'd prefer to have a little more per carry than that because inevitably the defense will blow a run up here or there. Or you'll get a holding call or other penalty.
