Kearse was God awful this year too. I move Bell from LBer and put him in the Kearse role. Kearse can kick fucking rocks.

The first thing I would hope a new DC would do is move 11 back to LB for about 75% of the snaps before they ruin the guy having him bang heads with men that outweigh him by up to 100 lbs. You want him to rush QB on a lot of third downs, fine, but otherwise he's gonna be done physically before age 30.

Yes, I think it means that and also it's much harder to find a QB than a DC. If he's looking for a scapegoat it's a lot more convenient to point at Quinn.

Also they might have intel that Seattle (or even someone else) is likely to hire Quinn. They may be less in the dark than the rest of us.

If we lose Cooks, that's an enormous issue that needs to be addressed. You said WR is fine, but there's decent chance it's not. DT is already an issue. Steele is already a big issue. If Gilmore doesn't return we're foolish if we don't address CB and assume Diggs will show up as the same guy.

There are a bunch of prominent ones. I'm not even sure RB and LB are the biggest ones.

Going all in is sure as shit an option.

What isn't an option is half assing it, if we want to actually be a real contender for once. Why retain McCarthy at all if we think it means we can only make a couple tweaks and thus doom him to failure?

I'm tired of that approach.

We are a good team but we have to take an honest look at the roster and make real changes, not the bare minimum.

This is exactly right. It's like our approach is always to try to be competitive but never to really win it all. Which sucks for a coach like McCarthy whose job depends on being more than just a good team.

We have got into such a cycle of the same exact thing. Same season, same outcome, same approach to the offseason. At some point you have to break the cycle. Maybe it turns out good, maybe you fall flat on your face, but you can't just keep doing the exact same thing over and over and expect the ending to change.
 
I wonder how many of these awful records and firsts Dallas has recorded since the last championship?

First three straight 12 win seasons without a conference championship. :lol
 
I don't think they want to be competitive but not win it all. The team overall is pretty darned good. It's not like they purposely stayed short of better than that.

I hate to say it again, but IMO it's mostly Dak. I was re-watching the end of the SF playoff game and you forget that he threw what should have been that gift pick-six at the end to Greenlaw. Hit him right in the numbers, and it wasn't some tricky coverage. He just brain-locked and didn't see the guy, like he does when things are tight.

And that was right after the Fox guys put up a graphic that he was the worst QB (or one of the worst) when pressured. Of course, he wasn't even pressured on the awful decision to Greenlaw.
