He is prone to stupidity. I can't decide if I like the fact that the guy plays with an edge or if he is too stupid to control it and thus is a liability. But his 4.5 sacks in very limited playing time is third on our team. So a guy like that going into year 3 should be stepping into a pretty prominent role on defense.

But if he is too boneheaded to play I agree, trade him away for whatever day 3 pick you can get.

You need 2 legit pass rush guys now since they aren't calling holding calls on the o line if the defensive guy can't affect the play.

Plus pass rush in the interior

No because they are going to overreact to the RB problem and overpay an aging Derrick Henry.

Have to have money to pay 2027 1st rounder.

So you're really looking at LB and RB... a good RB can be gotten in the draft, that just leaves LB. Put the big money there and use the draft and some other value adds to shore up other areas.

Yes, this is an overlay simplistic take, but if you're going to stick with the guy, you can give some help w/o mortgaging the future.

They've been trying to build this team through the draft while basically ignoring FA for a while now. And this is the result. I just don't see it suddenly fixing everything.

The only way that works is if your second and third year players are ready to step in and take over. I don't know how much faith I have that we have developed these guys.

I've said before, I think McCarthy has almost no say on if Quinn stays or goes. Which kind of shows that maybe McCarthy doesn't have what it takes in Dallas. Few would with Jerry.

Great, the Dallas Cowboys are now a reality show. It gives something for Jerry to talk about 247. The fact that he made an announcement through a statement shows how chickenshit he is.

Oh boy, look, I never said those are the only issues, just the most prominent ones... and I was responding to a post stating that JJ wasn't going to spend a lot for a coach on his final year. I just tried to suggest that with a few strategic moves in those areas with "priority resources", you could then address the other needs with "value" adds, and not not mortgage the future.

I mean, going all in isn't an option b/c if MM fails then, you've possibly poisoned the well for future regimes. On the other hand, if you do nothing (or as little as possible), essentially flushing the season, what message does that send to the locker room?

This is a bit sassy for you. I like it.
 
The problem I see with Quinn is we are undersized and we like to overload to one side. We also don’t seem to have a player on defense that can check the defense out of a bad look. I would argue that if we had a more traditional Linebacking core instead of a bunch of small DBs playing linebacker that we wouldn’t get gashed so much. We tend to leave the middle of the field wide open most of the time. Love was literally rolling out to the right and finding the open man and we couldn’t stop it.
 
Was just watching the replay of last year's SF playoff game and we did look a lot different (bigger) with LVE and Barr out there.
