Very unlikely first round fall for Fashanu, but that's how this one played out

Reuter 7 round:

Dallas' picks are horrific.

24. LB Junior Colston - With all the top OL gone save Guyton.
56. RB Jonathon Brooks - These mock drafters are bound and determined to will this shit into existence.
87. C Tanor Bortolini - I guess he can play anywhere since they will need him to.
174. OT Matt Concalves - Injured swing tackle type at best.
216. DE Trajan Jeffcoat - Middling player, but an Arki.
233. DT Jordan Jefferson - Another meh player.
244. CB Willie Drew - Really?

They lost me at our 1st round pick. I love Colson, but in no way is he worth a 1st. Trade down to 32? Eh, maybe, depending on who else is still on the board. But at 24? Terrible idea, especially with Guyton still available.

And, I really wish that these lazy fucking “analysts” would stop mocking UT players to us. We get it: they’re in the same state, but we have no history of selecting Longhorns with any degree of regularity. Plus, they don’t mock them to the Texans, even though they’re also in Texas. It’s just as lazy as when those idiots annually mocked CBs to us in the 1st, even after we’d selected them in the 1st and 2nd rounds of the previous year’s draft.

Further, ignoring o-line (arguably the most critical need area across the entire line) until the 3rd? Too risky. I like Concalves, but his injury history is a legitimate concern.

If you do that you better be getting steals. Guys that are too good to pass up. Not reaching for LBers and injured guys.

Exactly. If someone (as an unlikely example) like Brock Bowers falls, you take him, because no other player surpasses his talent and value at that spot. But a 2nd round LB? Hell no. Hair-brained decisions like that are what cause GMs of legitimate teams to be fired.

That draft the other day with Guyton, Wilson and such that you were bitching about was actually fine, this would be an example of a truly horrific class.

And that's why he's paid the big bucks.

For me Brooks is a backup plan in the 2nd if guys like Cooper, Colson, Trice, Isaac and Kneeland aren't there in the front 7, but there would be some wisdom in snagging the top RB before the run starts, assuming he's actually projected to be healthy of course.

Kneeland is a guy I would be secretly rooting to make it out of the first. A legitimate need is at DE since this will be it for Lawrence.
