I really don't think it would even come close to happening. It's just what I want to happen but I'm cursed so I wouldn't worry about it.

What would be worse for you is for that to happen and have Red Ball lead them to a National Championship.

Man am I excited for these playoffs!

I can't believe we're just barely getting a real college football playoff for the first time in 2024.

Glad I'm at least alive to see it.

Even if it were to somehow happen, the Longhorns aren't loyal to a fault like Jerry Jones. Garrett wouldn't last more than two seasons at Texas. Hell, even the NY Giants were smart enough to give him the boot after roughly 18 months.

Anyone else like this Jeremyah Love kid from Notre Dame? Dude is a beast, didn't realize he was just a freshman. They compared him to Darren McFadden last night but I think he runs with more power
 
I didn't care for all the bitching and whining about how teams like Ole Miss or Alabama should've gotten in ahead of SMU or Indiana.

The regular season still has to count for something, IMO.

I don't want to see them continue down the road of just handwaving teams into the playoffs based on biases and hypotheticals. Otherwise what's the point of expanding if all you're going to do is cram 3 and 4 loss SEC teams into the playoff field just because you assume they'd beat some other team head to head.

Exactly. One of the things I don't like about the expanded playoff is it diminishes the importance of the regular season. So I'm glad the biggest helmet schools know they can't just lose games to bad teams and still automatically get in.

I think it actually raises the importance of the regular season.

There were many seasons in the past where 1 loss basically derailed any national title hopes. 2 basically killed any hopes of a good bowl game.

So after one or two losses there was virtually nothing left to play for.

But having a shot at the playoffs gives teams something left to play for still.

Real, expanded playoffs were always the right thing to do, and it's ridiculous that it took this long.
