You keep saying "weather". But there was no "weather" until the game was decided late in the 3rd quarter.

Once again, simply not mentally tough enough.

I'm pretty sure it started in the 2nd but I was saying that during the week I was saying how I didn't like the spot for those reasons, with the projected weather.

Are the early 90s OL one of the greatest all time?

One of, sure, but only because of what the team as a whole accomplished. I don't think talent-wise they were any better than what we had from 2014-16 or any number of other OL's over the years.

But Shannahan's offensive design is a different thing, it's era-defining, it's accelerated the evolution of offensive football.

Let's not forget, it took a number of flukey events and a defensive collapse in 2016 for him not to win the Super Bowl as the architect of an offense with Matt f'ing Ryan winning MVP that year. Then 3 years later he had Garoppolo up two scores late in the Super Bowl against Mahomes.

Now it's Purdy, just the next average to above average talent in line to be made to look like a superstar in Shannahan's offense.

I heard Parson's name about a hundred times before the game, and then was wondering if he was even playing during the game. But, the guy is a pass rushing specialist and monster, and when all you do is run the ball, it takes his talents out of the game.
Mazi had a better game than Parsons. Yeah.

The weather had absolutely zero to do with us losing.

Come on now. :lol

No but it makes it almost impossible to come back from a huge deficit, even if it only really got bad at 4:14 in the 2nd or 12:56 in the 3rd or whatever.

My overarching point was that the game got out of control early, in large part due to some very borderline calls, and that mitigated where Buffalo is weak (back 7) and exaggerated where they're strong (front 4).

Their defense is kinda like Philly's in that their pass rush is awesome but their back 7 are so-so, how do you think last week's game would've went if we had went down 21-3 before halftime while the Eagles got the benefit of several borderline calls that directly extended drives?

The Jaguars are pining for a new stadium?

~headswing to four games internationally~

That's a hard 'no'

I still think youre short-changing the early 90s unit.

I respect that viewpoint, but I see something special about Purdy.

Bulger had success in same system, but Kurt Warner was Super Bowls difference.

What were all these borderline calls?

Trent Green had success in same system, but Kurt Warner was Super Bowls difference.

Could be, he's definitely a better runner and more accurate than Garoppolo. He may be a better competitor than someone like Cousins, and definitely he's a better runner, but I have to see him carry the team in big spots for large stretches of games before I say he's any better than someone like Cousins.

Right now he only has to make a handful of plays a game in high leverage situations, and spends most of the time handing off to McCaffrey and taking easy completions within 5-7 yards of the LOS while guys like Deebo rack up 50 yards of YAC a game.

What were all these borderline calls?

The roughing the passer on Lawrence, which you see happen multiple times every game with no call, and the personal foul on Kearse where he basically threw his shoulder into the guys back from behind, another type of play you see almost every game with no flag.

Not to mention the would be forced fumble by Wilson, refs love letting plays run now and "defaulting to turnovers" so they can just go to a review, but obviously not here.

I tried to warn about getting too carried away with the dominance of the winning streak they were on. My position was to not get too overconfident in the team and Daks performance because they had not met their biggest test yet. I wasnt sold on the idea that Dak has risen to a proven QB yet and would potentially take the team to another level. Philadelphia wasn’t a true test to the real position of Dallas yet as having championship potential. Having said that I haven’t totally given up on the team. I still think San Francisco can be curbed with the right defensive schemes. The key to disrupting their offense is to scheme against the quick and short passing attack. It is the bread and butter to their offense because the average about 8 yards a pop and some of the gain the receivers run for about 4 yards after the catch so they are almost always are second and 2 or 3 yards. They maintain possession and do not punt as often. Disrupt Purdy and you get the entire offense Out of sync. No one has taken that stance with them because the defensive secondaries almost always drop back at the snap and that plays right into their hands for a short pass and run after the catch to get in a second and short yardage. It is how they maintain possession and then break a longer gain to keep field possession. The can be controlled with the right defensive schemes.

What teams have passed the big test of having championship potential

Intentional grounding occurred at 1 yard line when LOS was 11 yard line.
