They should put a goal post inside the goal post and those field goals are worth 4 points. If you score a TD outside of 50 yards it should be worth 10 points! Let's make the game more fun!
A lot of fans think a fumble through the end zone shouldn’t be a touchback. They think the ball should be placed at the spot of the fumble. I disagree. You shouldn’t be rewarded for fumbling.

Same here. There should be a penalty for not protecting the ball near the goal line. Otherwise players will be practically throwing it forward there, knowing if it's ruled a fumble they get the ball back anyway.

But it's not rewarding someone for fumbling, it's just that you got lucky and avoided a turnover. Just like if your own guy recovers your fumble, you're not "rewarded" for fumbling. It's just that the completion of the play worked out.
What if a guy fumbles out of bounds at the five? Should that be a touchback? At the 50? Out of the end zone is the same thing. You got lucky and it went out of bounds. Still your ball at the spot it went out (or at the 1 if it went out of the end zone).
Giving the opposing team the ball just because it went out of the end zone is like rewarding the defense for not making a play.

I meant like a running back or WR stretching the ball out and letting it go. I think there should be some penalty for that. It doesn't happen out in the field of play as much because there an inch or two almost never matters.
I can see the argument that you shouldn't lose the ball altogether. Maybe let the offense keep it, but put them back at the 20 or something.
But I like it the way it is. (Plus I can see endless replays of did the ball leave his hand before he was out of bounds, etc. Ugh.)
What happens if there is a defensive penalty like PI or holding? Automatic first down and you keep the ball? Pretty subjective call, and an easy way for the refs to swing momentum.
