What’s crazy is how well Burrow, Chase, Higgins, Hurst, and Mixon did in Buffalo with a patchwork OL.

Time to start studying up for the draft so I can act like it was a bad pick like some did with Parsons. :lol

Tyler Smith is a better example. The guy had very little love.
Guilty as charged, but I quickly remembered that this team only hits dingers on 1st round OL picks.

There were definitely people who shit on the Parsons pick also. Bad character, too high for an off the ball LB, etc.

With Tyler I feel like people generally liked the player but thought he was a project and therefore should have gone later (that's how I felt).

Also, didn't most of the draft guys have him graded as late-2nd - 3rd round pick? I think that fueled a lot of the outrage as well.

Junior on the Ticket actually had some good numbers this morning.

The highest QB cap % to win a Superbowl is 12%, Brady in 2014, I think. The average is 10-something percent.

The highest to even make a SB but lose was one of the Manning Colt years at like 18%.

Dak's % next year? 22%.

According to over the cap, Mahomes is over 17% of the Chiefs cap this season. And he has a great chance of winning the super bowl. I'm not sure the 12% number is a reliable benchmark.

I'm not sure it is, either. But it does just show that it's usually the good QBs still on rookie contracts that win. (The brought this up in talking about Micah's tweet.)

But yeah, Mahomes is great and I'm sure he'll win more Super Bowls. Any team would pay him.

Don’t count on it staying at 22%. His 2023 salary is $31M. They’ll restructure and convert a good portion of it into signing bonus. It’ll still be high ~19%

Remember, Stephen is a genius

I think it's something teams have to work around and especially have to draft well, and have a strong coaching staff. But I don't think it's a death knell for being a contender.

That said, I do wish Dak would have left money on the table and was willing to do a longer term deal to give them more flexibility to move money around. He definitely didn't do us any favors.

The biggest issue is if you're giving that high of a cap percentage to your QB, he better be worth it. So basically it again comes down to Dak hasn't been good enough.
