McCarthy best watch the gaffes, like not challenging the fumble or calling time out for review vs Buffalo. Jerry is a slippery mofo, and division playoff loss might not go down so well.

The ONLY way I see this even being considered is if we lose in the WC round to an awful NFC South team.

Outside of that, I can't imagine what the hell you'd be thinking to get rid of the guy after all the good he's done.

It doesn't even make sense unless Jerry was butting heads with McCarthy behind the scenes (which there is no evidence for). Typical Florio click bait.

its only relevant because there's pressure on MM to win in the playoffs. There has to be forward progress. If not, look for a scapegoat.

agreed. But even here there are expectations (realistic or not) for the postseason.
None would be happy with a wild card exit. Many would be pissed at a division loss.
NFCC game or bust.
Personally, I want to reach the NFCC. Then, aside from a complete turd, Id probably be happy with a hard fought close game, either way it would turn out.

True but there's the micro and macro way of looking at it.

In the micro, it sucks to lose and especially if it's earlier than expected.

The macro view though? You can be disappointed with how it ends while still recognizing we're in a better place than we've been in a long time.
