You would think leading the NFL in interceptions with eight and making history with five pick-sixes would force people to know your name. Dallas Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland found out that isn't the case on Tuesday night.

The second-year cornerback attended a Dallas Mavericks game against the Los Angeles Lakers when he was introduced as Mr. Pick Six to the crows by the P.A. announcer. The problem? He was introduced as Trevon Diggs, per ESPN's Carlos Nava.

The Mavs shortly apologized and corrected their error by re-introducing Bland. What's even more embarrassing is they showed him on the jumbotron with a graphic reading Trevon Diggs.

Bland is a man of few words and he'll likely take in stride. But it's a terrible look on the Mavs to do that to a VIP like the Cowboys cornerback.

By the way, Bland is fresh off of a great performance in coverage in which he allowed just two catches in four targets, allowing eight yards against the Philadelphia Eagles. He spent most of the game covering DeVonta Smith while Stephon Gilmore traveled with A.J. Brown throughout the game.

In Diggs' absence, Bland's rise has been historic. Although he's had a rough couple of moments, his play on the outside has been one of the best in the entire league this season. To this moment, the Cowboys cornerback ranks second in PFF coverage grade and fourth in NFL passer rating allowed. His eight interceptions are double than those players tied for second, who have four.

His play is key to Dan Quinn's defense, as it asks a lot of its defensive backs. The three starting cornerbacks of the Cowboys (Bland, Gilmore, and Jourdan Lewis) rank in the top eight cornerbacks in man coverage rate, per PFF. With the work he's done for Dallas, the Mavs better get it right next time he visits the stadium.

So hip drop tackles are dangerous but is there really any good way to ban that without convoluting the NFL with more rules and flags that create more inconsistency and an inferior product? It feels like every health concern leads to more rules/penalties/inferior product. All the rules to protect QBs for example. Very inconsistently enforced and the QBs are getting hurt as much as ever.

I am still on the fence with the Prescott HERE WE GO thing.

I remember when I was a kid, all the great QBs had their own cadence.

Staubach had his HAWT HAWT. Commanding. Bitch was telling them what to do.

White tried it a little. He was a little soft on it, but he could get guys offsides.

As an adult, I appreciated Aikman's strong but subdued manner. Calculating.

It is a fat big blur in regards to Romo. Way too wordy and a lot of his beady eyes, which I never cared for.

Prescott is going with this here we go thing, which apparently was appropriated from Cooper Rush.

I don't know how to feel about that either.
I hope this is you being obtuse... b/c it's been established that his cadence was the brain child of the O-linemen. Which why Rush uses it too.

Does it help that eagles fans hate it?

Dak, Tua, and Purdy are game managers according to Cam Newtown.

Cam was blessed with a nice set of pearly whites. In college, when he scored a TD, he made sure to get his helmet off right away and flash a big, charismatic (and rehearsed) smile at the fans. He was very open about turning the charisma into merchandising opportunities when he got to the pros.

Once an asshole, always an asshole. Here he is, sitting at home at age 34, admitting he hasn't heard from an NFL team in two years, but still feels qualified to critique NFL QBs. Meanwhile, Joe Flacco, age 38, is leading the Browns to victories.

NFL to Cam: "When you hear your phone not ringing, you'll know it's me not calling."

I feel I am being attacked because I am not up to speed on something I was mildly annoyed by at first.

Interesting article about extending Dak.

The most interesting part to me:

"Because Prescott was franchise-tagged twice before, his tag number in 2025 would require a 44 percent increase from the cap number in the final year of his deal. This practically means he can't get tagged again. But just for good measure, Prescott secured a no-tag clause during his last negotiation, guaranteeing he will be a free agent in 2025, no matter what.

On top of that, due to multiple contract restructures, Prescott’s cap number for next year is a whopping $59.455 million. The easiest way for Dallas to lower it is by doing an extension. So the Cowboys need to redo the deal far more than Prescott does."

This was already known, despite how he's played he needs to not be an asshole on his next deal. Mahomes and Allen both took deals that were relatively team friendly because they were longer term.

I'm fine giving Dak an AAV in the 50's but it has to be on a deal that's at least 5 years but ideally 6-8 in length so they can push money into the future.

If he drives a hard bargain for a 4 year deal that also averages $52+/year I'm going to be pretty disgusted with him.

Isn’t it ironic that Daks playing his best football now at renewal time ?

Would you rather him suck?
What if he’d been up for renewal after last season, when a goodly amount of folk were pretty damned sure he in fact did suck? Does the owner bend over like he surely will this offseason?
Nope, its all about timing .
Daks wins again.
