Actually, Schoonmaker just went to the ground short of the goal line. I don't even know if the defender affected the catch, though he did affect ball placement.

Makes one wonder why we run a pattern where we're not in the endzone.

Come on, really? Go watch it again.

This is interesting to me. Pretty much confirms the eye test statistically. The Cowboys are one of the least lucky teams in the league. (And the Eagles are among the luckiest by far.)

look at the top rated/best teams in this metric:

  • Packers
  • Chargers
  • Giants
  • Pittsburgh
  • Denver
Do you see something in common among these teams ?

Those aren't the top teams in this metric so I'm not sure where you're going with this.
The total column, which is the sort order for the metric. All the teams in blue. I listed just a few .

Sure, if you cherry pick out all of the good teams, and ignore the Steelers actual record
We have a very good team. We are at the bottom of the list.
Along with Baltimore.
And San Fran.

And from the front angle, it's pretty clear that his momentum was headed into the endzone, until contact was made.

Clearly pass interference. I don't know what the fuck Ravi is looking at.

I love that I don't even have to play the video to see the defender with the TE wrapped up and being tackled before the ball is even in the picture. I seriously wonder how people can sometimes argue a point that is so clear as day wrong.

None of that is the point of this. Some teams are luckier than others and it's usually going to be kind of random.

You don't have to be a good team to be lucky, or a bad team to be unlucky.

Yeah, what exactly is the point of rating and sorting teams based on as nebulous concept as luck ? What conclusions can be drawn from all this number crunching?

The point is that the outliers might have future results that don't match their past results, because you can't count on luck to repeat itself over time.
