The difference may be that the best organizations don't stop looking. Rodgers was #26 when they had Farve. KC picked Mahomes at 10 when they still had Alex Smith. NE took Garrapolo #2 when they still had Brady, for God's sake.

In Jerry's case, you have a QB who obviously is not going to take you across the finish line. But 28 or 29 other teams don't have one either.

Jerry is content with promoting the fiction that Dak can take them to the promised land, and that's enough to keep the moronic masses, the droogies you see drinking the kool-aide in the stands on Sunday, hungry enough to get down on their knees and BELIEVE!! On Monday they go back to their miserable, empty lives.

Jerry sits back, laughing, counting their money.

Yep. If you omit Brady (who's a unicorn), the vast majority of SB winning QBs were drafted in the first three rounds (rounds 1 & 2, especially). Dak is therefore facing long historical odds.

You go so extreme that it makes your position silly. But you're implying that over 50% of first round QBs end up better than Dak when the truth is the vast majority never obtain his status. I'm not even talking outright busts which there are many of. Of first round QBs, here are the guys worse right now

No, I'm not saying that.

I'm saying it will not take us "decades," to find a QB who is roughly equal to or better than Dak.

Dak is a fringe (8-12ish) top 10 QB and if I find a guy in the 12-14 range that is roughly equal. Dak is closer to the middle in quality than he is the elite, because there's a massive gap between the 8-12 range and the top 3-5, versus the 8-12 range and the middle.

Kenny Pickett, Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields, Mac Jones, Tua Tagovailoa, Jordan Love, Kyler Murray, Daniel Jones, Dwayne Haskins, Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, Lamar Jackson, Mitch Trubisky, Deshaun Watson, Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, Paxton Lynch, Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota, Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, EJ Manuel, Andrew Luck (Ok, he retired but still), Robert Griffin, Ryan Tannehill, and Brandon Weeden.

QB's drafted in the first that are better than Dak right now over the same time period? Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes.

This list is both wrong and irrelevant.

To say it's easy to find someone as good or better than Dak is a ridiculous position in my opinion. And frankly if you go outside of the first round your odds get even worse.

It's not a guarantee with every first round pick but it will not take "decades." I would guess within two tries you could find an above-average starter which is what Dak is, and one who is not 30 and mega expensive.

I'm also of the opinion that the team matters in terms of development and some of these franchises that keep missing do so because they can't develop young players. I don't think we are far above average but I don't think we are the dregs either. I would feel relatively confident about this team identifying a QB, trading up to get him, and turning him into a Prescott-level QB - or better.

Again, I'm not saying dump Dak for nothing, but it's simple fearmongering, brought on by homeristic attachment to "your guy," that says Dak can't be replaced with a rough equivalent in a reasonable amount of time.

Of course part of your problem is that you are wrong in your assessment of Dak as a QB, because you said that guys like Andrew Luck, Lamar Jackson, and DeShaun Watson were "worse," than him. They aren't. You are overestimating what Prescott is.

I said right now today, and yes Dak is better than those guys right now. Not past, not future, right now. I'm surprised you didn't mention Wentz too...

It is an organizational push. And the Joneses figure they can glory hole the next one too.

Luck is retired, Jackson injured, Watson suspended, those are all things that the org the player is in has a tremendous bearing on the outcome. If those players were here, the fact is they are all equally or more talented to Prescott.

And this is part of the argument. Again, you are writing these guys off because they may have had down times elsewhere. Or because their peaks weren't as long. That's not really the debate.

The debate is finding a guy and creating a window. It's very doable.

This sounds very much like your cries during the head coaching search after Parcells.

There’s someone out there.

Your ideal was fuckin’ McDaniel.

How much better is Dak than Goff, who had a great season last year and took a team to the SB?

So Watson doesn't have rape tendencies in Dallas? These guys aren't better people in Dallas.

We have no idea of the personal problems a guy might or might not get into in a different environment.

The talent is there to be found however.

Great Micah Parsons interview on The Pivot podcast.

If the Cowboys had 50 other guys on the roster with his mindset and work ethic, they'd absolutely be playing in the Super Bowl. He'd fit right in with that 90s group of Cowboys.

Micah got me hype and drinking the Kool-Aid. I don't buy jerseys anymore, but I might go out and get me a Parsons t-shirt.

One of the more interesting things that came out of the podcast is that he already has an age in mind when he wants to walk away from football. He didn't mention the number but he said he's already told his agent that once he his that age he's done.
