I agree to some extent but I'm not sure what you want exactly. We had one of the best defenses in the league last year, they showed up big time in both playoff games, we brought back everybody and added Gilmore via trade and Mazi in the first. There are no clear holes on roster and we go 2-3 deep with guys who I'd feel comfortable starting for a few games at multiple positions.

I think Lawrence was very good last year, he didn't have huge sack numbers but he was awesome against the run and got consistent pressure. I also think Sam Williams could be huge this year in terms of being the "Robin" to Parsons' Batman as explosive edge rushing threats.

The help can also come from the offense, to capitalize when the defense makes a stop.

But it's more towards being able to have consistency from the defense when Parsons is out.

  • He directly or indirectly keys 90% of the pressure we gain and many of our biggest plays.
  • We don't intercept anything despite the multiple errant throws he causes. Drill the hell out of that, Quinn!
  • Who else is even close to double digit sacks? Williams has potential, but who else?

I agree that we need to work away from being so reliant on him but we did lead the league in turnovers last year and were near the top in INT's. They let some golden opportunities go by the wayside against the 49ers but that happens.

Armstrong had 8.5 sacks last year although he isn't a pure edge rush threat, more of an interior rusher who makes hustle plays off loops/twists. The production Williams put up last year was pretty ridiculous for his snap count though, he's the guy I'm looking at who can elevate the defense from very good/excellent to potentially all-timer if he can make the next step this year and turn into a 8-12 sack guy.

Jeez, way to put negative thoughts in your team's head, Mr. De Facto GM. You know these quotes will be pulled about seven months from now.

Gallup will probably be fine, he might not ever put up 1100 yards again but I think he'll be back to being that good 2/excellent 3 that he's always been.
