But Wilfork was very effective at that size. It makes far less sense to try and change someone who was working as intended.

Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with having Mazi drop that weight if that's what happened.

But I wouldn't use Wilfork as the example why.

There's a difference between trying to change what's working versus trying to change what's obviously not working.
 
Out of the five WRs logjam, Hines Ward and Steve Smith were cut, leaving Reggie Wayne, Holt and Andre Johnson.

This is a tougher-than-ever field of 15 to determine the 5 worthiest. This year and next year is probably Woodson’s best shot cuz in 2026/27, several clear-cut HOFers become eligible - Drew Brees, Larry Fitzgerald, Roethlisberger, Gronkowski, Adrian Peterson, Maurkice Pouncey. Others like Jason Witten, Geno Atkins, Frank Gore also become eligible.

Surely they don't believe they can turn a guy who's never shown the ability to generate consistent pressure into a good interior pass rusher.
