I kind of don't agree with that but that's in an ideal world where a team reasonably covers its needs in free agency. If you are drafting for need you have to be real careful because you tempt yourself to reach. Definitely don't target one single position at a single high pick, which is how you end up with Taco Charlton, David Lefleur, Kavika Pittman, etc. At the very least I think you have to have a hybrid plan where you're open to several different positions for each draft slot.
Right, and that's where the balance has to come in. You take your needs and then watch how the board falls to you. If you have your #1 RB at your pick and the #2 WR at your pick and you feel WR is a bigger need, you go WR. It's a very delicate balance, and a balance that the Cowboys have done well with recently.

And is there any confidence that a team can actually determine who a BPA is at a draft spot when it is a moving target throughout all 225 selections?
It’s a very subjective determination and almost defies a scientific and objective approach.

No one is ever going to hit 100% but what BPA does is give you better odds at hitting when you take out the emotional element of needing some particular position.

He’s not wrong. The data supports it. They’ve put up great numbers. What’s not right is an assumption that this offense can match with the 9ers defense. Or produce results with Zeke being a central figure.
That was sarcasm on my part.

Bossman Fat...

Perfect example of when they put need over BPA and didn't keep the balance in check.
So, in hindsight of course, what was the better choice at KJs spot?

Creed Humphrey would have worked, too.

But the point is, they were going to take one of the two corners in round one, they missed on both of them, so they felt like they had to take one in the second round. That almost never works.

Kind of the same thing happened with Tolbert. They really wanted a WR in the first two rounds but there was a big run on them. Hopefully Tolbert can still be a player, though.

No one minds if Moore dangles. No pursuers for his services means he can twist. He’s had ample opportunity to excel.

Let him twist right off the limb.

Creed Humphrey would have been a home run. Our line would look a whole lot different right now.
