I liked Davis a lot like most of us last summer, but it was amazing how much smaller and slower he looked against real NFL players vs. preseason scrubs. Not to say he can't play at all, and we know future dock workers aren't the same as NFL starters, but to me the difference was especially obvious with him.

It said a lot that he didn’t get much of a look after Pollard went down.

It just said Zeke, that's really all. Zeke was such a big perspnality, they weren't pulling him out of the game for an umdrafted rookie. Hell look how long it took Pollard to really be used in this offense.
I agree this has been a thing for the longest time with the Cowboys under the Joneses for players with big contracts.

Davis would have had to have been Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith combined to have gotten more carries. Kind of not kidding either, because that's what it would have taken to get noticed with such few actual carries.

I think how they handled Jaylon Smith should put to rest the notion that they'll ride with a star player forever no matter what, at least under McCarthy.
And while that star player can still draw breath and is collecting Cowboys paychecks signed by one Jerral Jones, minimum wage, non-high draft pick backups can go fuck themselves for all them playing time they’ll get.

Yeah, I don't think that's true.

In that case, we had a high draft pick in Micah and another one in LVE. Had it been a Malik Davis equivalent back there, we’d have kept Smith through his contract or until he got hurt no matter how embarrassingly bad he performed.

Maybe a 4th rounder like Cox could have garnered more playing time… maybe
