So here is what the gambling degenerates say.

Don't really get the Falcons/Robinson thing, are they really going to take him at 8 when they kinda hit on Allgeier last year and have Patterson getting carries also?

Maybe the idea is targeting him after a trade down but +160 is almost even odds, is there really a 45% or so chance that the Falcons take him?

Just got done refreshing myself on Will McDonald and I hope everyone is mentally prepared for him to possibly be the pick at 26. Unless a clear BPA like Darnell Wright or Nolan Smith falls I think there's a very good chance that McDonald is the pick if the options are something like McDonald vs. Kancey vs. Avila vs. Torrence vs. whatever TE's are left.

I have been expecting him as a possibility for a while.

Yeah I've been preparing for it ever since he kind of got the Quinn hype that we saw with Sam Williams last year. Quinn has a lot of pull in Dallas. If he wants a pass rusher and the scouts agree with the talent, I could easily see it being our top pick.

And he is a good player. I like McDonald. I just like some other players similarly and don't think undersized DE makes a ton of sense right now. But yeah, Quinn loves his DEs. And he will rotate a shit load of through a game. He uses DEs as DTs so I think that's part of why he loves depth at DE. He wants to be able to play Lawrence and Armstrong at DT while having Parsons and Williams or Fowler at DE. So for Quinn I don't think he will ever feel like he has enough pass rushers. Which I will say, it's a lot of fun bringing the heat.

Hey, Armstrong needs to replaced. Sorry.

Yea he has nearly 35 inch arms and the ability to maintain his momentum through the top of his rush and almost accelerate as he bends is rare, put all that together and I think you have a recipe for him possibly being at the top of their board unless a clear top 15ish guy drops.

Aside from Osa Lawrence and Armstrong are basically our interior pass rushers, so whatever, and like we've talked about, I think there's value in lightening the burden on Parsons over a 17 game season as an edge rusher.

That could be part of the rationale but I don't think McDonald and Armstrong are very similar players whatsoever in terms of how Quinn would use them. I think it'd be more of a hedge on Lawrence declining in the next year or two while wanting to free Parsons up a bit so he doesn't have to take as much of a physical pounding.

But there's definitely an argument that they could let Armstrong go if he's asking for too much after next year.

Yeah and I don't agree with DE being a position of need but I won't let that cloud the fact that I like the guy. I think he is very quick and plays strong for his size. It would be three straight years of using a first or second round pick on a DE so Quinn better keep his ass around. (And yes, Parsons is a DE, that's where he plays most of the time). But I'll take overkill at pass rusher over pretty much any other position on defense.

If the player is good enough, fine, it almost doesn't matter his position.

But we really need to upgrade the offense much more than the defense. Yeah, we added Cooks, but we also lost a starting guard.

I hope if we go DE in the first, things don't fall wrong such that we're targeting an offensive position and we end up with another Bossman bust.

If it were up to me I'd be looking to trade up about 10 or so spots in the 2nd to take Avila, Torrence, Mauch or Mazi Smith, depending on where we go in the first of course.

We could definitely move up that far without giving up our 3rd.

McDonald was whipping the shit out of Darnell Wright at the Senior Bowl for what it's worth.

I'm not usually a draft a guy at position A to play position B but I kind of wonder if Bergeron wouldn't make a badass guard. He has position flex obviously as an OT but I think he has perfect size to slip inside to guard and is a really good run blocker. Anyway, just another second round Olineman to think about.

Yea I like him also, probably wouldn't trade up for him but wouldn't complain at all if we sat there and took him.

Yeah he doesn't get talked about much but he is a 6'5" 320 pound athletic and talented run blocker who projects in the second round. In ways he is similar in size and potential to Tyler Smith. I think we would all love to have 2 Tyler Smith's.
