Agreed but what if it's BPA?
As I have said many times, the draft has to be a very delicate balance between BPA and need.

Agreed but what if it's BPA?

So I don't want to talk shit on these TEs because they are very good. But I don't see them as top 32 players. I just don't. And with Kincaid I really wanted to see him at least show he has legit WR speed, which now he won't.

In the second round, all day. And I still maybe able to be talked into Washington. I don't know that I love him as a game changing receiver but I do see potential and I know he could be a game changer as a blocker. So yes I agree with BPA but position also matters. For me to call a guy a first round TE, I want to see some freaky stuff. Otherwise I just feel like I'm getting another Schultz, Ferguson or whoever.

Solid starting TE isn't the same as a solid starting receiver for example. They just don't have the same impact. So solid starting receiver would probably rank 2 rounds higher for me than a guy I think is a solid starting TE.

Exactly my point above.

Well, in this case, a guy coming off a back injury would never be on my board.

Good luck to him, wish him well, but I am not introducing that risk to my roster.

We did it before with LaFleur. Hopefully some damn body remembers that.

This was the final straw for me with this player. He's been hyped up the ass, but if you see the pass defenses that he played against, it is gross. That was almost enough for me to take him off my first round list. This all but solidifies it.

I am okay with the Meyer kid and Washington. That's it for the first as I am not a Musgrave fan. If not, look for LaPorta or Kraft next.

How about when he falls to us in the second? You doing the Jerry special?

I agree, I wanted to see how he ran but if he's basically sitting out all testing with a broken bone in his back?

Gonna be a no from me.

Would still be perfectly comfortable with Mayer or Washington.

More on Kincaid from the official NFL site:

Any team considering drafting Utah's Dalton Kincaid, Jeremiah's highest-rated tight end (No. 11 overall) in this year's draft class, might have to do so without witnessing him work out prior to the draft.

Kincaid did not work out at Utah's pro day on Thursday, as he's still recovering from a back injury he suffered (and played through in the Pac-12 Championship Game) late last season against Colorado. According to NFL Network's Omar Ruiz, Kincaid said he was cleared to begin working out this past Monday and will be cleared for contact six weeks from then, which is May 1.

That's after the draft, which is scheduled for April 27-29 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Kincaid said at the NFL Scouting Combine that he hoped to work out at the pro day. Under the advice of Dr. Robert Watkins -- the man who once repaired Peyton Manning's neck injury -- Kincaid did not have surgery to fix the plate compression fractures to Kincaid's T7 and T8 vertebrae.

Kincaid, who said his back is "good" right now, told Ruiz he plans to show teams he's healthy with a workout prior to the draft to make up for missing his pro day.

"I'm going to run some routes, kind of do some drill work," he said. "(I'll) either invite some people out to watch that or just record it and send it out to some teams."

Lookit, I ain't no medical expert but when the dude has hooked up with Peyton Manning's doctor already?

He is well funded but I am not confident about his body.

Plate compression fractures between vertebrae definitely doesn't sound serious at all.

I'd roll the dice on him in the second or after a trade down but no chance at 26, just not enough of a BPA considering the health stuff.

He is a guy I was really interested to see run. He does a great job of catching deep throws but I'm actually not that sure how truly fast he is when I'm watching him. I would have liked to see the 40 and the agility tests. Agility again because a lot of the routes I'm watching aren't agility based. They are sort of straight line stuff. Seam routes and wheel routes and such.

The fact that his back is still a problem when the season ended months ago is more the worry for me than the particular back injury.

Anyway, I've been out on Mayer for awhile. Just kind of looks like a slow plodding guy to me who wins with size. But he isn't really that big for NFL standards. Looks to me like a dude that could be shutdown by a Kearse like safety.

Musgrave I have been out on since the Senior Bowl. He is an injury guy who should have dominated there because of his athletic ability and he just didn't. Might be a great NFL TE but he is way too iffy for my taste.

Which brings me to Washington. I must say his freakish dimensions I love. His run blocking I love. But his production as a receiver just disappoints me. I think there is potential there and honestly with the ball in his hands I don't think anyone is going to want to get in front of that train. But to me he is too raw as a receiver to consider in the first. Although I'd get it if we did. I think he actually compliments a 2 TE offense really well where both he and Ferguson could be on the field giving us a really dynamic running offense combined with RAC ability if we throw out of it.

Ultimately, someone tell me why LaPorta should be below these guys. His athletic ability and production are right there with any of these guys in my opinion. Especially considering his QB and offense he played in. I'd feel way better about him in the second round. I also think Tucker Kraft should be in that conversation as well in the second round.

I would love to have him, all homerism aside.

I'm going to be honest, I don't get the hype with him. He never felt like a guy who should be a top 5-10 pick but this draft lacks much for elite talent so I get it. I just think he is much closer to the Van Ness types than the truly elite prospects you usually see in the top 10.

Oh, I don't see him as a top 10 talent. But, I do see him as a first round talent easily.
