Nobody wants to give a fully guaranteed deal to a guy who runs as much as he does and who is already starting to wear down.

But I'm sure there's also some under the table agreement between the teams to squash fully guaranteed deals before they take hold.

Good lord. I said it before, but no one is giving up two firsts for this dude. The Ravens were a running team. Period. He only threw when he had to. And that's the only reason he is even still a starting QB in this league.

Someone come fight me over it.
The dude can play football. To discredit him just like that is a little unfair.

Plain and simple, he is a more talented Kaepernick. Greg Roman made him too.

It's the running QB. No one expects longevity. This isn't rocket science. Watson is a passing QB who can run. Totally different.
There is also the idea of guaranteed money.

Which in a case like Jackson is pretty much asking to lose your advantage on the investment.

He will continue to deteriorate. He will not be the Madden joystick type player everyone thinks he is two or three years from now. He might already be at the tipping point in terms of his body's ability to do what he has to this point.

One of these takes is not like the other.

One guy has worked in the league and understands a little bit how owners and GMs think.

The other is a guy that somehow has amazingly fell into a lucrative job by sensationalizing things.

Good for Florio, but I remember when he was some hack on a fledgling internet.

I remember when PFT wasn't shit. I sent him a mock draft back when his site was young that I did with a guy from the old boards (Wulfman, if anyone remembers) and he put it up. I remember he has some smart ass things to say, but I was so appreciative, I didn't bother to say anything.

It gets very very tiring to see people who should be able to analytically comprehend this sport would think like this.
Methinks the outrage isn't about being analytical.

I have no dog in this fight. I don't know how to feel about Lamar other than I think he is starting to become too injury prone.

Would you give up two first for him?

But, like, they are colluding against him and stuff.

It is impressive how they have managed to shout down simple factual knowledge about guaranteed contracts as well as the fact that this kind of thing has happened for years.

Twitter today has been a colossal bore with the same idiots bleating about this whole thing being racist while ignoring facts. It is tiring.

This shit is funny. Truth is teams are just as afraid of the contract Lamar wants as the Ravens. But hey, maybe someone will deal two first for Lamar. But franchise tags rarely end up with a team just signing him to a contract. And how the hell does anyone know a team won't. I wouldn't but then again I wouldn't have given a haul for Russell Wilson or Watson.
