That’s a lot of coin to stick around and play for a team that could be without a QB, RB, O-line, and reliable run defense in 2024 due to the transfer portal and guys going pro.

College insiders are pretty certain that the Buckeyes ran McCord off because they already have another QB lined up to come in and take the reins.

I’ve heard they’re looking at Cam Ward in the transfer portal. I have a hard time believing that they’ll just hand the team over to Air Noland, who is an incoming true freshman.

Bringing in Ward would make the most sense.

I agree. Given the significant changes of players on that offense, Ryan Day can’t afford to take any chances at QB. If he loses to Michigan again next year (and I sincerely hope that he does) and fails to win a national championship, it will likely spell the end of his tenure as head coach at OSU.

The big question is will he be paid that in a lump sum or within 12 months or is it getting paid in installments over like 3-5 years?

I'd be shocked if he was getting paid that upfront or by the end of next season, in which case it's pointless compared to NFL money where the rookie deal is like 4/40 right off the bat, all guaranteed, and you're a year closer to FA or your 5th year option.

Which is why I think the NCAA needs to reel it in by reimplementing the rule that you have to sit out a year if you choose to transfer.

Players are basically acting like they're playing on year to year contracts. They're taking bids from one school then shopping it around to see who is willing to top that number.

And ultimately, you will have some broken players that thought they could handle change like that.
