2022 NFL Coach/GM Firings-Hirings Thread

Lovie Smith? :lol

Can we get a check the box for a retread black HC?

Retread and black.....~NFL Swoon~

Surprised we still haven't seen Eric Bieniemy get a HC job. He checks all the boxes... Successful OC. Worked under successful HCs. Black.

Dude must interview like a mongoloid.

So we got 14 teams.

Love how the media with zero skin in the game fixate on certain guys like Bieniemy they want hired.

Then if that coach sucks and is fired, they won't care. They'll have long moved onto something else.

Do the Texans get extra picks for promoting Smith? Seems rigged if it is only external hires.

To be fair, Bienimy really should be a HC based on what we can see from the outside looking in.

Sure, Reid is the mastermind there, but this guy McDaniel was the "OC" for one year in a very similar set up in SF where Shannahan was the one actually calling plays/designing the offense. And he was only the "OC" for a year compared to 4 or whatever for Bienimy.

So objectively there's no real reason McDaniel would get hired after only being involved through one hiring cycle, although the elephant in the room is that Bienimy may be truly horrific during the actual interviews.

If that's the case there isn't much you can say.

My point really isn't about Bieniemy in particular. My point is that these media people get off on white knighting for people they don't really know and who might be terrible hires. But if they are terrible hires, the media types bear no consequences whatsoever -- the fans and ownership and players do.

As for EB in particular, I have no idea why he isn't getting interviews. Maybe it's because he has some minor criminal things in his past (assault IIRC) or maybe it's something stupid like that he's 5'-7" (my suspicion). For the record, I have no idea why McDaniel would get a chance either except that he became something of an internet phenom for his dorkiness.
