I mean if you're running 12 personnel instead of a 3 WR set I think you have to have a guy who blocks well. Otherwise you're just sitting a real weapon in the passing game for a lesser weapon in the passing game. I like Kolar though so I'm game for him in the fourth/fifth. It's why I wouldn't force a Woods pick. If he falls to the right spot, great. If he is snatched up by a thirsty team too high then I take Kolar later with the plans that he replaces Schultz in a year.

There are a number of TEs that could be had in that 4th or 5th range. I like Woods but we have to look at the positional value. If the design is to pay Schultz franchise money for one year only, perhaps.

I don't think we have made any real effort to sign Schultz long term. Now maybe that changes after the draft or maybe it's a deal they get done during or after the up coming season. I don't really know but I also get not wanting to pay Schultz like a top NFL TE long term. He is solid but I think he benefited from the way defenses played us.

I think McBride should go in the 2nd but I wouldn't take him for the Cowboys in that range.

Yeah I'm not saying a TE won't go in the second round. I think one will. Maybe even 2. But I wouldn't. I just don't think there is a TE that would get me excited at that point. It's a weird TE class to me. I wouldn't call it weak but their is a real lack of top TE prospects. But outside of that, it seems like there is depth at the position.

But yes, I think someone will reach. McBride is kind of just that productive and steady guy who could go second round.

Well hell, I was just talking about him and the fact that the only reason he isn't going top ten is because of the ACL. Teams may just not care about it or they have seen his progress and know he will be ready by the start of the season.

I do as well. It would be a pretty insane gambit.

I appreciate the movement to pay the college kids, I get it. It is a long time coming.

But it should stop there if they want to be a professional.

Yea he's probably a really good WR2, which is about how I'd characterize pretty much every WR in this class except Williams.

That's one of the reasons I'd rather go elsewhere at 24, although luckily it seems that least the top 4 will be gone, and depending on how fast they go probably the top 5 will all be off the board.

I mean calling him a Will Fuller seems a bit too much to me. He is better than Will Fuller was coming out. I don't necessarily agree with what those guys are saying. I do in the aspect that he isn't going to be a physical WR, he just isn't big enough to be a physical WR. And the NFL has sort of gone a favorable direction for him with their rules. 30 years ago you needed a physical receiver because DBs were allowed to push shove and be physical. And frankly the receivers were too. It's why you needed a dude like Michael Irvin that could be physical.

I don't think the NFL is as much that way anymore. You don't have to be a 6'2" physical WR to be a real number 1. You just need to be able to get separation which is what Olave does. And Olave has great hands and makes some really spectacular catches. Do I think he could be a 1200 yard receiver in the NFL? I do. That's all I really care about. Get open and catch the ball. The rest is just overthinking.

Burks on the other hand has physical down to a science. But I'm not sure how well he will actually get open. And that's why I'm just not sure about him at 24. There have been lots of WR's with size and physicality in the NFL draft who absolutely fall flat and fail because they can't get separation.

And one last piece, I actually think that Pickens has some alpha dog #1 WR in him. Had he not tore his ACL going into this last season I think his name would be up there in the first. Instead you get the benefit of knowing he is all the way back from the injury and still have that talent and upside. Dude has grown on me for sure.
