2022 Cowboys Free Agency Thread

They stand by their bullshit moneyball approach like it's been working out for them, though.
Yep. But I think even Joe Fan is starting to figure out how stupid these MFers are.

Im to the point I want Jones to fail free agency, and thus continue to lose the fanbase. The hate is deepening.
Don’t have to hope too hard. They are really bad at it.

Oh come on. There is a certain very strong core of the Cowboys fandom that are facepainters.

They certainly are not on an antiquated message board shooting the shit.

You have to literally try to be as bad as these guys are at FA.

If you assigned each FA an AAV for a contract based on a poll of each NFL GM and had a monkey throw 6 darts at a board every March we'd have a better outcome. Or you could get that octopus that picked games during the World Cup, basically any sentient being picking at random could do better than Stephen Jones.

Watch. We will sign some cheap FAs and roll all the money forward. Clowney is still sitting out there and he had more sacks than Gregory. This a team that try’s to save a buck.

I figured this shit out so you guys didn't have to. The question to answer is, why does Dallas do free agency like assholes?

Answer? 2014. Go back to 2014. Brandon Weedon and Terrell McClain headlined a free agent haul made up of who gives a fuck signings.

What else happened in 2014? Jerry won the prestigious PFWA executive of the year award. There's your answer. Jerry's ego was stroked and he has that formula etched in his hillbilly brain.

That's the thing, they intentionally don't sign free agents at the start of free agency. It's not just bad luck and guys picking other teams. They literally do this intentionally. It would kill me a GM for my plan to be, let's allow everyone get their guys and then see who is left. But that's the Cowboys strategy, or at least what they think is a strategy.

Anyway, I'm sure we will sign some schlubs in the coming days but I'm not going to bother looking hard at lists. It's like trying to predict what players will be left in the seventh round of the draft. Who fucking knows.

Indeed, this would be quite bad for your career as a GM. That is, unless...

How utterly predictable was it that when Gregory fell through, they had no plan B? I guarantee there are professional football people in that organization who were prepared with alternatives, but it doesn't matter, because the decision makers aren't interested.

I don't buy this bullshit for a minute.

Nor do I.

Also, not to defend these hillbillies but the second I learned there was anywhere near a 20 million dollar offer from elsewhere on the table, I wouldn't have bothered with an offer either.

The Cowboys brass is busy on vacation. It's why they fucking delegated the Gregory negotiation to a peon.

I think he delegated that because he was being petty.

"You want to make an offer I don't like? I won't even talk to you. You can talk to my underling."

I think he thinks that's a negotiating tactic.

I see a lot more negative chatter on Twitter these days about Jerry and Goof Son. Never referred to a message board.
