2022 Cowboys Free Agency Thread

He's good in coverage from what I remember, probably a fine Neal replacement and cheaper than LVE. Some insurance against Cox not being ready too.

But, uh, about that 14 million burning a hole in your pocket...

If they insisted on this protective language, they should have approached him on it months ago to see if it's palatable. That way you know way ahead of time if it's going to work and if not, you can plan ahead and have an alternate plan in place to fill the position.
That’s not realistic with this crew. Pre approve of an out clause ? Gregory should man up or GTFO.

No kidding, find the DE you want if it's not going to work. Instead you pull it last minute when all the other NFL teams have made their moves. If you knew Gregory was going to walk it may have impacted a number of other things we have done. But instead you find out it will be a problem once free agency starts.

We have at least double the cap space (and in most cases more) as the Rams, Chargers, Ravens, 49ers and Broncos, basically the other primary teams mentioned in relation to Wagner. There is literally no excuse for not signing him.

Re-sign Armstrong and Kearse, sign Wagner, spend a top 3 pick on the DL and we'll have a potentially dominant unit.

I'm sure he is a JAG but at least a viable body out there. Small and fast LBer.

I'm saying fuck it sign Wagner and Von Miller. At least get a couple of big time leaders.

That's probably unrealistic but if they wanted to they could pull off Wagner and someone like Uchenna Nwosu, which would be a hell of a haul and probably result in a better overall defense than last year.

Two things on Gregory.

1. Good for him. He made the right decision. He almost stuck himself with Yosemite Sam and Foghorn Leghorn for the rest of his prime. He has an outside chance at a SB now.

2. He’s a disloyal piece of shit. Still, good for him. He made the right choice.

It's unrealistic only because the Cowboys are cheap. But money on other teams is drying up and we have money to spare right now.

Wagner is the guy I really want. Not just for his play but because his attitude and total professionalism would be such a good influence on everyone.

I know odds are against it so I'm not getting my hopes up. But this is a rare guy I think is worth "overpaying" for.

I gotta say, the thought of Von Miller and Micah both mugging at the LOS pleases me. A lot.

But I am probably remembering prime Miller vs the version we'd be getting.

Meh, he had 9.5 sacks last year, I think he pretty comfortably gives you about 8-10 sacks for another 2, maybe 3 years.

Just give him a backloaded 3 year deal with all the guaranteed money in the first 2 years.

The Fan just said Slater says there seems to be mutual interest from Miller, at least more than from most other big name FAs in recent years.

Interest from which side?

Miller in coming to Dallas, or Dallas actually being interested in bringing him in?

Sounds like both now. I think Vonn Miller wants to go home to Texas. With Gregory out I think the Cowboys know Vonn Miller is the best option. I think in the end Vonn Miller short term could upgrade Gregory.
