Yeah but some coaches I think love being a coordinator. Being a head coach takes up a lot of time. It's a lot of pressure and losing sucks. No coach wants to lose. You look at a guy like Fangio who took over in Denver. Did a good job and yet he will probably be out of a job this year.

I think Quinn truly loves coaching defense. You can see his excitement when he talks about his defensive players. I'm not saying he wouldn't take a head coaching job but I think he is a guy that loves the role he is in right now.
Jim Johnson comes to mind.

Yeah I wasn't implying they would want Quinn. Just giving an example of a stellar defensive coordinator, did everything right and yet he could lose his job because the Broncos never found a real QB. Hell can you even blame a guy like Fangio for the offense? I mean he is a defensive guy, his input on offense probably extends about as far as picking the guy who will run it and that's about it if even that.

Quinns defenses with the Falcons sort of eroded to shit before it was said and done. Probably in large part because Quinn had to be a head coach and couldn't just be a defensive coordinator. I think Quinn is at his best doing what he is doing right now. And much like you I'm not worried by these interviews. They are basically interviewing everyone of note right now. The are going to cast a wide net and see who they like. I'd probably do the same if I owned an NFL team.

Agreed, and I don't think Fangio should even be fired considering the job he's done with the defense and dragging that team to about .500 with Bridgewater, and now Lock having to play significant snaps.

Get him a decent QB and I think they'll be a solid 10 win team.

But yea, Quinn needs to think long and hard about jumping somewhere because you have to think this defense will continue to ascend under him, and if so he'll get to be choosy in terms of where he goes over the next 2 years or so.

Someone brought up the Seahawks, I don't think Carroll will leave after this season and let his run end so poorly, but you have to think he doesn't have more than a few years left. If I were Quinn I'd be eyeing that job in maybe 2-3 years and bide my time here with a very young, talented group.

This is the essence of his response to the question from reporters. Only bailing for a plumb gig and nothing short of.

If we lose one...I would prefer it to be Moore.

Yea, I was wondering about this too and I think I agree. I feel like with our offensive talent it'd be easier for a random play-caller to come in and still produce at a high level, and McCarthy kind of dulls the sting a bit as well with his experience.

Luckily I think Moore is the more likely to go, most teams looking for a new HC will be after offense-centric guys and I think Quinn is behind Pederson in the "veteran, experienced HC" category and behind Eberflus in the "defensive guru" category.

I just don't see a lot of avenues for Quinn to getting a job with only around 5 openings unless someone randomly falls in love with him during interviews or our defense carries us to the Super Bowl and there's still a team out there with an opening late in the process.

You're being irrational, Pedersen is going to be way more in demand as an actual Super Bowl winner who was fired under questionable circumstances as opposed to Quinn who was a dead man walking for a few years.

Not to mention that the league tends to gravitate towards promising coordinators who don't have bruises yet. I'd imagine Eberflus will get a HC job before Quinn.
It's not irrational. He gave you a rationale. You may not buy it, but it's not irrational.

If this defense dominates throughout the playoffs and we somehow end up in the SB, he's going to get a gig if he wants it.

He might even get it even if we don't.

All it will take is a decision-maker to value the fact he is one of the few available coaches who has taken a team to the big game.

I love the fact that when Schultz came over to congratulate Cooper on his TD, Cooper immediately asked Schultz if was okay. This is a fucking team, man.

Also, you can see after the blocked punt/TD, Dak can be seen mouthing the word, "Wow". That's exactly the word that came out of my mouth.

I love how Lawrence and Pollard are arguing over if the offense or defense gets credit for the special teams TD for their bet. Offensive player blocked it, defensive player picked it up for the score. :lol
They ended up at "neutral play". :lol

I really love the competition.

This might be the first Cowboy team in a bit that truly gives a shit about each other.

I know we all love the defense right now but let's try to keep our pants on.
Way too late on this one, pal.

Been in my skivvies since Micah was drafted.
