2021 NFL Cuts/Signings

Maybe I'm missing something here.

For the price of the remainder of his contract...which comes off the books at season's end..

You could trade for Gilmore and get a top CB for the season for a 2023 6th.

Then let him walk in free agency and get a compensatory pick in 2023 that's almost certainly a third or 4th rounder, which is significantly better than the 6th you spent to acquire him.

Why wouldn't this be a no brainer?

Maybe there is legit concern over his knee. But even then he has to pass a physical or the trade won't go through. Maybe he is demanding the contract be redone before he plays.

Maybe that's it. But most players of his caliber want to hit the market.

Yeah it's the only thing I can think of. I guess the Patriots don't care but they would have likely got a better comp pick. From their end though it's about saving the money I guess. Even if it means getting a sixth round pick instead of say a fourth.

How is this even possible? I thought it was announced that he was released?

Mercilus might even be renewed by the chance to play with a contender.

Thing is, at age 31 where does he fit in? Do we want him taking time away from Neal and Cox at LB?

Does he sign on at DE, seriously setting back Anae’s career?

I might have to agree with the Joneses and not even consider him. /sad

The hell with Anae, he can go to the practice squad. If Mercilus still has “it” bring him in, we should be all in right now.
