Anthony Lynn was interviewed today and told he’d know an answer within 28hrs.

So who is that? I have to admit, a couple of the names you people are throwing out there aren't that familiar to me.

Kellen Moore would be smart to stay in Dallas and milk contract extensions & pay raises as long as he can.

My reasoning is it's a lot easier to look like an offensive genius when you're working with an offense loaded with talent across the board. If you go to some team with pedestrian talent, especially at QB, you run the risk of getting exposed and your value taking a big hit.

Most of these open positions are bad jobs with bad rosters. So whoever gets those jobs will likely need a good 3 years to turn things around. Ironically year 3 is about the time the fan base typically starts to turn on coaches who aren't winning enough.

So if I were Kellen Moore, I'd hustle the Cowboys as long as possible unless some once in a lifetime opportunity popped up. But I damn sure wouldn't leave the Cowboys to coach at programs like Boise St, Texas Tech, or WGAS NFL teams like the Dolphins.

Not only would he inherit bad teams, but he would have to turn around those teams while simultaneously learning how to be a head coach.

He’ll have the desire to move up no matter what. If he gets a HC gig he stands to make about 20 million dollars. It is too tempting for just about anyone to pass up.
 
I bet Lynn would be a very good hire as long as he's willing to truly grind in recruiting like all college coaches have to.

But I bet lots of good DFW talent would go there to play for him.

That's definitely a hurdle.

Jerry has no problem paying his top assistants HC salary. But if you give Kellen Moore a significant pay bump you'd probably have to give McCarthy a pay bump as well because McCarthy's $4M salary ranks in the bottom half of NFL coach salaries. Can't have the OC being paid more than the HC.

Speaking only for myself.

Legitimate OC: Yes

Good HC material: I'm not there yet.

As I've said before.....the skillset needed at HC is different than that of a coordinator. He's still too green, IMO. A lot of people like to point out that Sean McVay was in his early 30s when he was named HC of the Rams, but they overlook the fact that McVay had about 10 years of NFL coaching experience under his belt before getting that job.

I agree for my own selfish reasons, but also a 3 - 5 year showcase of top-rated NFL offense should give lasting credentials. Kellen seems like a smart guy, maybe he'll think about winning a few Super Bowls. Yes, multiple.
