I don't have a problem with Oklahoma being #8. That's the ranking they earned through sloppy play and close wins vs some of the worst teams in the country.

The committee has always said their goal was to put the 4 best teams in the playoffs regardless of record. So they really aren't following back on subjective decisions because the subjective rankings never went away.

It'll all sort out in the end. Every year everyone gets worked up over the first couple of committee rankings and every year except for 2014 things get sorted out on the field and there's not a lot of argument about the 4 teams who made the playoffs.

Completely agree. We would get our asses handed to us in the playoffs this year. I'd just as soon go to the Fiesta Bowl and kick the shit out of Wake Forest.

I didn't know much about him but after reading his resume is intriguing. The people that I have seen mention him have great things to say.

Sign me up for that train ride.

The dude is bonafide leader. Tech needs a leader in the worse way. Someone ready to grind it out in the state of Texas with his recruiting connections. Spend time to build a solid roster from top to bottom. That is going to take more time than most are willing to invest. With the right person the program could be respectable and least.

Same here. But of course most of Sooners Nation buys into that "any given Sunday/Saturday" nonsense.

Those same people who were clamoring to get into the playoffs are probably the first people turning the games off in frustration after OU falls behind by 4 TDs in the first half.

Give me the non-playoff game vs a top 10 team in one of the other top bowls and I'm fine. IMO, a competitive game vs those opponents, like last year's Cotton Bowl game vs Florida, do more for your rep and recruiting than getting the piss kicked out of you in a playoff game.

My gripe about the committee is the way they determined the seedings . It not about Oklahoma. Tournament criteria is based on winning regardless of how good you think a team may be. The top 4 had 2 teams with losses while several teams had no losses and were pushed down in lieu of the committees subjective determinations. That’s not a tournament standard.. The seedlings should have been determined from the teams that would have been determined to have qualified by the record. This is the same old political dance.

They are sifting through 20 candidates. Kirby’s butt is Pickering since he hyper focused on Wells last time. Now he has a committee and shared power in regards to the next hire. There are a ton of names out there. McGuire is being interviewed today followed by Grinch.

Anthony Lynn is getting a chat as well. Thankfully they are being thorough.

We have been able to gather that Texas Tech officials did conduct an interview last night with Baylor associate head coach Joey McGuire. We believe that the university will conduct interviews with Oklahoma defensive coordinator Alex Grinch and Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn in the next 24-48 hours. Once those interviews are conducted, we will have a very good sense of where this search is going. Will the committee continue to interview candidates or will they have, at that point, found their guy? Time will tell.

My thought as well, on the verge of being an NFL head coach and he wants TCU? GTFO

Exactly. This feels like his agents are playing the leverage game to get him a new contract in Dallas.

He shouldn't have a problem getting one of the richest OC contracts in the NFL.
