The transfer portal has made it extremely difficult to keep 2 good QBs on the roster.

Your backup pretty much has to be some 2 or 3 star recruit who isn't too full of himself. Those are the guys who you can stash and develop. It's what Alabama did with Mac Jones.
 
I tune in for some good Big 12 action and Tech is out there laying an egg at home.

Guess they'll be looking for a new coach after the season.

That or your backup is a stud freshman or RS freshman. If they aren't going to start by their JR year they are usually out. Some even sooner.
