2020 Training Camp Thread

unless we are very fortunate, we have to assume that we have quality depth. Players get injured, and you have to adapt. That was garrett's downfall; every piece had to be perfect and right in place, and even then, it wasnt enough be healthy.

I think we have good backup options at center, guard and OT so I think we will be ok. But Smith always worries me.

Kellen and the offense has little excuses this year.
Moore has nothing to apologize for. Even with a restraint on him last season from calling a more aggressive game plan he still managed to put the offense in the top producers of the NFL.

Why is is disturbing? I find it great that he may be emerging as something special.

Cause it's probably not something special. He was a third round pick in 2016 but at this point he definitely seems like a "he is what he is" guy, which is a special teamer.

I think they are used to mediocre safety play. I am sorry, I don't think he can play at the level we should want.

I would imagine he thinks Thompson isn't so special and that Dix should easily beat him out.
More disappointed that there is even a question at this stage. Second, Dix should beat him out but hasn't. One day this organization will value safety play.

So, you think it's more of a knock on Dix than props for Thompson?

Hehe, he should quit knocking on Dix...people are gonna talk.

This is disturbing.

I disagree. I think it shows that just because a guy was brought in as a FA, it doesn't mean the job will be handed to him automatically as it was in the past. It shows that the coaching staff is willing to start a less proven player it the vet isn't cutting it and/or the younger guy is showing they deserve it. Actual competition for a position. It doesn't mean that Thompson is the answer at the position. But it does mean we don't just sign a guy and call it good any more, regardless of how they perform.

We've been complaining for years about this. But now its disturbing when what we've wanted looks to be happening?

I remember liking Thompson in the draft. Was a real ballhawk in college. But his pro career hasn't shown much. So put me on the side of skeptical that he just looks that great. But I'd love it if things finally clicked for the guy. But I think he is just a limited athlete.
