I think at a minimum they have to bring in 2 more LBs. Sean Lee's contract is up this year and aside from him I think they have to plan for the contingency of LVE getting hurt again.

In an ideal situation LVE remains healthy and one of the newcomers supplants Jaylon Smith as the starter. At this point, I just don't see any strengths in Jaylon's game. He's slow to read and react and he doesn't look nearly as athletic or fast as he once did. Seems like it's a constant struggle for Jaylon to outrace his man to the edge.

He had a few nice plays of that nature back in 2018.....most notably near the goal line against the Texans. But now it seems like any and everybody beats his ass to the edge for extra yardage.
I had delusions they'd turn him into damario davis, ol homerin out dumb shit for brains.

Yep, the LB corps is in sorry shape. Smith can't play, Lee is old and always hurt, and LVE is good but IMO could be gone at any time with that neck.

They almost need a second or third rounder and a smart, veteran, Parcells "hold the fort" type FA LB. We seem to suck at finding those types, though.

Damien Wilson would be a nice 2 year fix. He's still relatively young; he's experienced; and he'd probably only cost $3-4 million per year, which is about what Lee is currently making. However, now that he's had the taste of being with a franchise that truly values winning, it would probably be hard for him to lower his standards and sign up for a second tour of duty at Jerry Jones' circus.

Actually I always liked him and thought he was sort of underrated. So that works for me.

Yeah, I think he would fit the bill as third LBer. Although I'd like to see if any of the young LBers develop at all. They may all just suck though, what do I know.

If Elliott doesn't improve in 2021 it'll be his last season in Dallas, so I say play Pollard a bit more now both to get him more reps and reduce the pounding on Elliott, then see how next year goes.

If Elliott comes back fresh and motivated next year, ride him like a horse and then keep him around for one more year in 2022 to see what he has left, if he's still dithering around you just continue to phase him out and cut him after the season.
