Carroll got rid of Richard for a reason. Sounds like the Legion of Boom’s all world talent covered up for a lot.

When they were gone, Richard was no longer either a fit or needed.

I've pointed out before that the lack of a coaching tree branching off of Garrett is an indicator of just how useless he is as a coach.

Garrett was the head coach in Dallas for 10 years and there's not a single coach that you can point to and say "he came from the Garrett coaching tree".

In most cases if you're the head coach anywhere for more than 5 years some of your assistant coaches ascend to more prominent jobs elsewhere. Hell, Marvin Lewis even had one (Jay Gruden). But unless I'm completely blanking on a name, I can't think of a single coach under Garrett who was fairly new to the NFL, who branched off to a better opportunity elsewhere. Only NFL retreads like Bill Callahan got better jobs elsewhere once they left Dallas.

That was one thing about Garrett that always stood out to me.

I've always thought that, too. It will be interesting to watch how long it takes the Giants to wise up and cut him loose.

It's kinda funny when you think about it. Schmitty was all about THE TREEEEEEEE!!! when it came to Josh McDaniels. And now he's planted his flag with Jason Garrett. Over 10 years couldn't even sprout a little quality control scrub brush, much less a coaching tree.

Absolutely! Zero branches, zero tree. More like a a scraggly, ugly shrub that you cant stand in your landscape

Yeah, that "The TREEEEEE!!!" thing was always an overblown exaggeration by booze to mock my interest in McDaniels, not something I really truly stumped for. That being said, yes, being a Belichick protege has it's benefits, which is why he's managed to place a lot of head coaches around the league.

Garrett has not much of a tree for sure, neither do most average head coaches, so I'm not tremendously surprised by that.

As explained by David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, Garrett has no coaching tree despite serving as the head coach in Dallas for more than eight full seasons. Let that sink in for a moment. Not a single member of Garrett's coaching staff has become a head coach elsewhere.

Ben McAdoo was on his staff for years and was a shitty HC for the Giants for a few years, Alex Van Pelt is an OC for the Browns, and Edgar Bennett is somewhere I believe.

Not especially impressive, but on the other hand McCarthy took an old Favre to the NFCC, then transitioned to Rodgers, won a Super Bowl and went to several other NFCC's.

If Garrett had gotten us a Super Bowl and to numerous NFCC's then I wouldn't be questioning his tree either.
