Cowboys fans I hope prefer the following week’s game at San Francisco where Hairball teased and then blew a ten point second half lead to that same Tony Romo with broken ribs throwing to reality TV show winner Jesse Holley.

The season that broke me.

I haven't been the same type of fan since.

2011 had 3 just absolutely gut wrenching losses where we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, and that Jets game was one of the those 3 games (Jets, Lions, Giants in Dallas).

The sad thing is, Romo had played brilliantly until the 4th quarter -- the goalline fumble and then the inexplicable pass straight to Revis.

Terrible start to what was a terribly frustrating season.

A better HC and/or play-caller would've had him playing like 2014 Romo years earlier in a more practical offensive system that was more predicated on the running game/play-action. As opposed to the red-headed dickhead who let Romo do whatever he felt like because he knew that he was the only thing saving his dumbass from going 6-10 every year.

I agree.

Again, going into the 4th, it was shaping up to be one of his finest games.

That throw to Witten that set them up for a 1st and goal is one of the finest passes of his career.

Speaking of which, that goalline fumble I mentioned earlier? It happened 3 plays later because Witten, for as great as he was, was such a pussy when it came to contact and he never ever used that huge body of his to bull his way forward.

He always braced himself to withstand contact and that's exactly what he did on that play. It's even more inexcusable there because the safety is running to chase him down from behind, so it's not like the guy was going to deliver a huge blow.

Witten should have put his head down and carried the guy into the endzone. Instead, he braces for impact as always and allows the smaller man to drive him out of bounds and the rest is history.

Witten is slow and the db had the angle on him.

 
Dallas worse streak was 84 thru 90. If you can endure that you can endure about any season.

He probably runs him down short regardless, but Witten isn't pushed out of bounds so much as he's already drifting that way.

He needed to flatten his trajectory once he got closer to the endzone as opposed to angling towards the sideline as he did. If he flattens his trajectory and then maybe he shrugs off a tackle attempt, but he never put himself in position to build any sort of momentum.

Once he got to about the 10, he should have flattened his route and tried to push through the guy.

As an aside, going back to what I said about that being a beauty of a pass, look at the angle from the first replay.

What a fricking pass.

That 2011 loss to the Lions often gets lost in the shuffle when bringing up Garrett's failures as a coach but it's easily in my top 5. Right there with the 2013 loss to Green Bay.

I think that game more than any other up to that point showed us what a pretender we had running the sidelines.

I think everyone’s impression of Garrett was while being manipulative and a kiss-ass, at least he had brains.

That game cemented that those brains didn’t extend to the football field.

That 2013 game is at the very top of my personal list of worse Cowboys losses during the Garrett era. I blame Garrett & Romo for that one.

We were absolutely destroying them with Murray and the run game and for whatever reason --probably just selfishly trying to pad the passing stats-- they completely abandoned the running game which was the primary reason they built a 26-3 halftime lead.

The Cowboys abandoning the running game was such a head-scratcher that day that even the Packers defensive players openly questioned why the Cowboys stopped running the. They admitted they had no answer for Murray and they were glad the Cowboys decided to abandon the run.
