2020 Draft Weekend Chatter Thread...

Ya know, the NFL has been squeaky clean with DV charges and scandals. I call bullshit. I think the NFL has probably doled out millions in hush money.

A near perfect draft. That’s what’s going on here.
 
This is the best I've felt about a draft since 2005 although we had two 1st's that year so it's not exactly apples to apples.

Overall, from top to bottom, this is probably the best honestly. 2018 was close but Biadasz and Anae on day 3 blows what they did in 2018 out of the water, not to mention I'd give the edge to what we did rounds 1-3 this year due to Lamb's upside.

2005 was awesome, and probably the closest to this year, but you have to grade on a curve due to the two 1st's. 2010 was very top heavy with Bryant/Lee and day 3 was a joke. 2002 was up there but not as good top to bottom, 2003 I felt great about but it was hard to be too excited after taking Newman over Kevin Williams. 2016 was tainted by the reach on Jaylon, and while I felt great about the rest, spending the 34th overall on a risk like him didn't sit well with me.

I'm saying all of this from the perspective of how excited/pleased I was on draft day. In hindsight 2016 will trump just about any class if Dak is a franchise QB for 12-14 years just because of the impact of that one pick, plus of course Elliott and Brown/Collins being solid rotational pieces, although I think we're going to get more than just 3-4 long-term pieces out of this class.

Ware/Spears/Burnett/Barber/Canty/Ratliff is really hard to live up to if we're talking about how classes end up.

Even guys like Burnett and Spears who are considered slight busts were starters for like 6-8 years, Ware is a HOF'er obviously, Ratliff and Barber were Pro Bowlers, Canty was a starter for about 8 or so years also.

That's 6 long-term starters, whether it was for us or another team, including an HOF'er and two Pro Bowlers, really difficult to hit that many times in one draft.

Yup. That was the best class of ours in my life of following (1998-onwards).

This one has potential to be up there for sure.... but we’ll see.

Sans NE, over the last 25 years, Baltimore Ravens have been the most impressive franchise. Consistent winners counter to the franchise-QB-convention. SB with Dilfer, SB with Flacco and #1 seed with Lamar Jackson.

Another solid, Ravens-style draft that oils their machine. Doesn't hvae the splash we had with Lamb, but great draft.
 
So the eagles have drafted 3 WR and traded for another? If they only only were smart enough to give up their Hurts pick and go up to get Lamb, they wouldn't have to throw such massive amounts of shit at the wall.
 
I’m curious to see how this draft is graded. We have to be top 5, no?
 
I get that this draft is anomalous for a lot of reasons, and you never know how picks will pan out. Maybe those guys fell for a reason, and maybe we didn’t resource the scouting process properly to figure that out. Maybe the guys the draft nerds like aren’t all that good at playing NFL-level football.

But it is really nice to be on this side of the draft regret fence.
