2020 Draft Weekend Chatter Thread...

Well we didn't have a choice between them so comparing the two will only be an issue for the Broncos fans. Kind of like comparing Goff, Wentz and Dak. We didn't have a choice with the first two and kind of lucked into Dak as plan D anyway.

I liked Thomas more than Dez too when they were drafted.

I’m fucked up that way. Don’t mind me.

and good point, I’d have more to worry about if both were on the board. I’ll let Denver fans worry about that shit. You just made me feel better about this. I like you.

With the 51st pick in the 2020 NFL draft, The Dallas Cowboys select, Adam Trautman. TE, Dayton.

:crying

Okay. Dallas made a good pick in the first round. Not too much debate about that so do they go hard the next 3 rounds on defense picks?

I really hope so. Lets just hope those defensive players aren't off the wall.

CeeDee Lamb was NFL.com's 7th best prospect.

Still can't believe that we actually took him. Sure didn't expect it.
I absolutely didn't expect it. I can't remember the last time the "obvious pick" was actually picked. We normally are left scratching our heads when in those situations.

I can't imagine there is a team that has the corners to line up against us.

I think there may be a message with the first pick. I am not sure who it is directed to but I think it says that Dallas management has confidence in Dak or conversely it says to Dak you have every player tool possible in the NFL to prove who you are. Now it’s up to you.

So let’s say for argument sakes D-Law does return to double digit sacks. Great. He’s one guy to worry about

There definitely is no one else.

And I doubt we get seven complete cream puff games on our schedule again in 2020.

Again, it's not really accurate to say there is "no one else" on defense. Unless you mean pass rusher.

Ok, but look at what we did in 2018. There was "no one else" on that defense either. That was 10.5 sack Lawrence and 6 sack Gregory.

I don't see why we can't be the defense we were in 2018. Or even better. We will be better at DT. We will be - frankly - probably better in the secondary if we land a quality CB or Safety in the next round or two. Byron Jones really was not some shut down CB or turnover generator. He was just a solid CB that didn't let up a lot of big plays. Ok, but you can find good replication of that with a combination of Lewis and a rookie. The thing about that defense is that the LBs played well - Jaylon and LVE especially. That's where we need to see a return to form. And if the DTs are better significantly, and they should be, that's a big start.

With our offense the way it should be with McCarthy at the helm, with our crop of WRs, with the OL if McGovern can be a Looney upgrade, the 2018 defense would be plenty good enough for this team to make playoff noise.

Also, maybe random, but listening to the PC last night McCarthy didn't say a lot too interesting, but he did emphasize that every WR will learn every position and be moved around more than before.

Sounds like he'll make sure we exploit certain matchups like, you know, good coaches do.
