Per Albert Breer:

This is really depressing to read. So basically moving on from Dez is going to fix the offense. And totally ignoring that fact that defenses literally know our plays before we run them. And our own players have told the coaches of this fact and still have done nothing about it.

But Marinelli being out is going to fix things. Even though he actually has the defense playing really well now that some of the rookies have developed. I actually want to replace Marinelli as well but we better be smart about it or I wouldn't be surprised to see a drop off in the defense.

Per Albert Breer:

Yes. Lets re-tool Garretts assistants some more. It's obviously not Garrett that's the problem. Lets give him what, a fourth or fifth defensive coordinator. Change out some more positional coaches. That'll right the ship. There's just no way it could actually be Garrett who's the incompetent fuck up.

Stay comfortable, Jerry. You'll go to your grave without ever achieving significant post season success, but you'll rake in the dough and won't have to worry about walking on egg shells. Stupid motherfucker.

Yeah, I've never gotten the Marinelli hate. Is his style of defense my favorite, no. I prefer a heavy pass rush scheming DC like a Wade Phillips. But Marinelli's type of defense of just being fundamentally sound, playing extremely hard, and not giving up big plays can and will work. A huge percentage of defense is simply effort anyway, no matter what the scheme is.

And Marinelli has lacked great talent, unlike our offense.

I seriously wouldn't wish being a Cowboys fan on my worst enemy. It sucks so bad.

See ya. Thanks for the memories.

I don't blame Dez. I wouldn't volunteer to take a pay cut either. Knowing the dynamics of NFL contracts and how cut throat the business is, why would you?

I doubt there's a single person on this board who would voluntarily take a pay cut if you were in an NFL player's position.

Restructuring your deal to create cap space is one thing, but taking a flat out pay cut......absolutely not.

I would if I under performed at my job, pointed fingers at teammates or coaches, etcetera. I actually did once when I screwed up one time two many for management, got demoted and took a 25% cut in pay back in the 80s I accepted it because I accepted that I wasn't living up to my pay.

But I wasn't making almost $13M a year to play a game a few months out of the year. When he got his deal in 2015, he was worth it, now he's not. JMO

Here's another one.

Remember that one dude who pretended to be a pseudo scout of some sort.....I think he went by "couch scout" or something like that.

IIRC, he used to use the TV network broadcast to "study the tape" and provide his scouting report. :lol

Great. So if Marinelli goes, the team has to adjust to a new DC, probably scheme and there's a built in excuse for the team to flounder next year and Garrett keep his job.

Whatever buys Garrett another year.

Couch Scout. Claimed he was being paid to scout for the Raiders or some shit. Then suddenly, it was all a scam that he got duped into.

He probably should just retire. Injuries are adding up with him.

I'm certainly no Jerry fan, but really... If we're being completely honest, who's the stupid motherfuckers here? The guy that is making billions doing whatever he wants whenever he wants, or the fans that continue to dutifully follow along year after year, all the while claiming they know things will never change?

I’m not in the fan group you mentioned. I’m barely a fan anymore and I haven’t contributed to Jerry’s pockets in years.

But to answer your question, the fans no doubt. I didn’t mean to suggest he was literally stupid. I just want to use mean words towards the guy who essentially robbed me of something I once was passionate about and took great joy in.

Breer speculates Marinelli's in trouble while others do the same regarding Linehan.

They need a solid, hard-assed HC to drive these young players.

Instead, we'll get another generation of softies and like it.

I'd settle for a strong willed offensive coordinator that pushes Garrett around but we won't.

At a minimum, Marinelli will go, and Linehan is probably gone because Jerry ignores the fact Linehan is just running a slightly modified version of Garretts shitty offense.

At the end of the day we know Garrett is staying come hell or high water, but the offense was putrid this season and the D has been lackluster for the last few seasons. Jerrys gotta take someone to the woodshed, afterall.

Out of Linehan/Marinelli, the D the last few games has not been bad, but Marinelli's body of work in general leaves a lot to be desired, and he's accountable in my mind because he's had some input into some of the guys Dallas has drafted. His defense has given up huge plays at some really inopportune times, and thats probably what is going to be the final straw for him.

Linehan is guilty of some shitty playcalling, and either running Garretts shitty offensive plays, or simply being unimaginative/lazy when it comes to getting the O on track. Either way he's probably done in Dallas too.

One thing is for sure...Linehan, Marinelli, and Garrett are by far the worst I've seen at in game adjustments in all my years of watching football.

I'm just sick of there being an excuse for everything year in and year out. Hire better coaches and build better depth on the roster to help lessen the blow from injuries, suspensions, etcetera. Pretty pathetic that you can basically predict next year's excuses before this one is even over.

It's just a crappily run organization outside of making $$$.

Couch Coach is pretty close to Couch Scout as far as names are concerned. :unsure

He's always seemed like a really smart dude.
