Witten had 64/703/5 in 2014, last year he had 69/673/3. Pretty damn similar.

He hasn't declined because of Dak, he's declined because he's closer to fucking 40 than 30.

As far as Dez, he's declined somewhat because of Dak but a lot of that has to do with his own shortcomings. Much of his success with Romo was predicated on perfecting that back shoulder/jump ball fade, he can't get that down with Dak so he doesn't have much else to fall back on because he never truly developed as a route-runner.

The 2015 injury may have sapped him of some athleticism also, but intimating that Dak is wholly to blame is completely idiotic. Sure, the chemistry isn't what it was with Romo but Dez has also dropped balls that have him hit him right in the hands and would've been routine catches in years past. He's declined, point blank.

No question. To blame Prescott for this decline is simply refusing to give up the hero worship of Bryant.

Further to that, outside of Zeke, this O design is not QB friendly. We have a non explosive #1, a garbage #2 WR, and a #3 WR/TE who struggle to get beyond the first down marker. Dak may not be a top 5-10 qb in this league but he’s certainly not being done any favors at this point of his career

Dez is dropping the ball worse than ever. You can't blame Dak for that. But I also think it's correctable because hands don't usually get worse with age.

When you go against the Patriots you have to game plan your defense around stopping Gronk. Atlanta you game plan around Julio Jones.

When Zeke is out, does the defense have anyone they actually have to worry about? You think anyone is scared of Witten or Dez? So yeah we have been exposed without Zeke. It's why we need at least one more real weapon on offense.

That part of the discussion is correct but on the whole Prescott isn’t up to what he was expected to do this season. Last season was in large part due to a choreographed game plan and Prescott only had to execute what was prescribed. This season the coaching staff threw the playbook at him and expected him to execute all the read options to the plays. He wasn’t ready for that and he still isn’t. In time he will be but it was predictable that he would not have as good a season as his rookie year. In fact I did predict it simply because the odds were against it happening.

Two things.

1. Loved his assessment of Rudolph. I was high on him coming out of North Pole U.

2. That "do you believe in Santa" question clearly fried his circuit board. You could see him going through system reboot protocol right before the video ended. We almost had a blue screen of death moment.

Thought the same thing. "Can Not Compute".

He wasn't closer to 40 than to 30 last year.

And yet...

I mean, you can choose your mental gymnastics and convince yourself that a guy at 28 isn't in his prime like almost everyone else but rather is somehow in decline due to age.

But the simplest answer is look at the common denominator.

Let me be clear. Witten is declining, there's no question.
Witten is declining but he's no scrub.

Dez on the other hand... getting old? Declining after signing his FIRST contract extension two years ago?

And we're the ones jumping to conclusions??

The Romo thing I get. But dude, give it up with the Bryant thing.

He is absolutely not even close to being an upper tier WR in this league.

Oh wait, you think Prescott sucks and that is why he can't produce.

Nevermind.

Not necessarily. Just find it odd that he can't get on the same page. Since when is 28 old? Ther are WR's who play into their 40's.

The wrs who play that long are usually excellent route runners which Dez is not.
