So I just don't see it, probably also why the $$$ won't match...

Well yeah, Butler is sitting behind probowlers and doesn't see many balls. The Vikes are desperate for a WR and that's all Patterson could do. Butler had less then even half the passing targets of Paterson. And Pattersons 8.7 yards per catch tells you they were almost all short gadget plays.

Like I said, Butler is the better WR. Return man/gadget player is all Patterson is.

Yeah, I think he is a good fit there. And, like you said, his level of success will solely depend on his playing shape.
