I don't care about kicks so much. So few of them are even returnable.
But punts for sure. That's where a difference making return man can really impact a game. I'd absolutely use him there.

I do not want Adoree Jackson at 28 under any circumstances. I am not sold on him being an elite outside corner.
The punt return thing is tangential value. If I'm taking a player in the first, I am targeting guys who can be elite players at their position first and foremost. Jackson may be a top notch slot corner who is also a dynamic punt returner, but I'm not aiming for Orlando Scandrick production in the first round at the player's primary position.
Now if he was a surefire stud shutdown outside corner who also returned kicks, like Patrick Peterson, that return ability would vault him over other outside corners of similar coverage ability.
But I'm not taking an inferior coverage guy just cause he can return kicks, all so we can use him two handfuls of times in his career like we did Terence Newman.

I just don't give a shit about return ability especially if his main job is starting CB or WR or whatever.
If the guy proves to be a quality starter we won't use him to return anything anyway.

I'm not sure why you don't think he can play on the outside. He reminds me most of Darrell Green. With his speed and athleticism Adoree Jackson should have no problem playing on the outside or in the slot. This guy brings elite athletic ability and has been a pretty productive corner at USC (Hell he won the Jim Thorpe award). As a junior he registered 5 INTs and 11 PBU's. The beauty of the guy is that he is still on the upswing and somewhat raw. As he becomes more polished the sky is the limit.
I think you're missing the boat on this guy. I love his return ability too but that's not why I'd draft him in the first.

Well admittedly I am behind on putting in any type of real research to these guys for a couple years now what with getting married and having kids. But in going off the guys I listen to -- Broaddus and Brugler, heavily -- they seem to indicate that his lack of size produces real questions about his ability to be more than a slot corner at the next level, ie, he would get eaten up by most of the Julio Jones, AJ Greens and Dez Bryants of the league. Also say he has very poor fundamentals and has mostly relied on his amazing athleticism, and I don't know if that's something our generally underwhelming DB positional coaches will be able to fix with him.
I do not see 1A corner with that guy on our team. So no thanks, not in the first.

Yeah Broaddus is terrible in my opinion. Look no further than Janoris Jenkins with the Giants who is smaller than Jackson. Hell if you go through the NFL and look at 5'10" corners you will find a hell of a lot of really good ones that start on the outside.
Brugler is way down on Jackson. I don't dislike most of his stuff the way I think Broaddus is an idiot. I just think Brugler has a hard on for bigger corners. Guys like King, who I worry more about as being too tall.

I really like Adoree Jackson. But would be underwhelmed if we took him in the first. If we have to go CB in the first, I'd rather have Conley (I know), King, or Humphrey.
I still have my fingers crossed that we leave the first with Barnett, Harris, McKinley, Watt, or Charlton. Or a trade down.

I'm not making an argument for Jackson at 28, I'm just saying if we do take him there we better use him to his fullest potential, and he could easily be the best PR in the league as a rookie.
As far as his ability purely as a cornerback, he's a true ballhawk and has a great ability to go up and get interceptions, so I like that, but his size and bad habit of giving up big plays is obviously a concern. I think he could play on the outside but it's not a foregone conclusion given his size.
At the end of the day if we wanted to take Jackson at 28 I don't see why we wouldn't do everything to trade down given the depth at the position, unless of course they have an inflated grade on him. I'd much rather go with Awuzie or Tre'Davious White+an extra pick than just Jackson.

Yeah, I'm not pushing for Jackson at 28. I easily prefer the pass rushers there. But I am pretty high on Jackson. Just like I'm really high on Awuzie as well. I really like Conley.
The two guys that concern me are Humphrey and King. King mostly because of how tall he is. It's just so rare to see a 6'3" guy able to turn his hips and really run with guys in the NFL. Humphrey scares me for the same reason that most Alabama corners scare me. Their system tends to put very limited pressure on them. It's why their guys tend to look great in college and fall flat in the NFL. Dee Milliner being the most recent example of this. The coverages he ran in college basically made it easy on him. I mean the closest thing to an NFL success out of an Alabama corner in recent history is Dre Kirkpatrick and he wasn't even a starter his first few years in the NFL.
Not saying that dooms Humphrey, just makes me nervous.

That is the earliest. I don't care what this says, he is either going to be at less than 100% for the entire year or will need a redshirt season.
I don't take that kind of player in the 2nd. Had enough of that crap.

Yeah he may be able to PUP and play come week six but he isn't going to be 100% probably until year two. I appreciate that he thinks he will be cleared by September but that is a best case scenario and when he does it's going to take some time for him to get back to playing at his old level. It's not like a sprain that heals and you're back to full speed.
